Does your butt hurt????? | Arthritis Information

I have to ask.  It is like the bones in my butt, not my hip bones, but my BUTT BONES are hurting.  AM I CRAZY???????????

Nope, that happens to me alllll the time when I sit for long periods of time. hehe I don't know if its just because im use to lying down but since ive been sitting more it doesnt hurt as bad hehe. So nope you are not the only member of the achy tushy club! hehe You're not crazy. But, I at least can say, I know mine isn't directly arthritis related.  It's related secondarily due to osteoporosis.  I have a, well,  broken butt.   In all actuality...I have a small fracture in my tailbone.  So that is why I have butt pain.  Sitting on certain surfaces for even the shortest time is literally a pain in the butt.

Is it muscle pain or bone pain?  I have read that the arthritis in the hips can cause the butt muscles to hurt alot.

Just so you know, my neighbor rushed over to tell me "the cure" this morning

Ouchies! that sucks wayney does using a cushion of any sort help ease the pain? Because I was thinking of getting a cushion or something but any regular one just doesnt do it for me.
Pam,
You made me think of something else...mine is both.  But for me the muscular stuff is fibro.  It never affected me until I was hit with fibro and it hit a few months later.

Jealousy,
Depending on the cushion it may help for a bit.  But, laying or standing seems to do more.  It's one of those close to the skin feelings that well, I'm trying to figure out how to put this without sounding odd.  Ok, it's like the pain is right at the top of my butt crack but not that far from the skin.  And that if I could just rub or manipulate it in some way it would hurt less.  The sad part is...I've had it at least since late 1998.  And it never healed.  Even more sad is that I do not know how I did it.  Doc said I had to have fallen.  Problem is that hadn't happened since I was really young.
hugs, wayney
About 25 years ago I fell twice and broke my tailbone each time.  If I sit for too long, it is really painful to change positions or to stand up.

Pam; I'm dying to know what your neighbors "cure" was.

Well Lovie,

It's very complicated as you would expect it to be.

 1 Tbsp  honey
  2 Tbsp lemon Juice

Now that we'll all be cured I hope we can still be friends !
Gotta go suppose to be working
Hey it might work....if you have a sore throat too!

Well, it is what I prefer for a sore throat in addition to adding an adult beverage to it.

hugs wayney

Well I didn't figure out WHY my butt aches but I am grinning from ear to ear about the discussion it started.  I have a new cure for you guys.  LAUGHTER !!!!!!  I think it works.  My butt is feeling better already lmao

I found this very interesting....

Here is the main link for all the information.  I have yet to sit and read it all.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Thanks Jen.  That article is "weighty" but I got some good info out of it.  My symptoms all seem to be categorized as progressed ra which is depressing as I didn't even know anything was wrong until all hell broke loose last Sept.  Anyway, you have again made this a great place to find good info.  Jen. that is interesting. thanks for sharing. :)

yes roxy I agreeeee laughter is definitely the cure for so many things :)

Juliahh, I have plenty of butt to share if you need some Jealousy38507.0619560185yep...I have had the "butt aches" too.  I even had to sit on an inflated  spa pillow in the tub when I took a a bath.  The pain did go away though in about two months. Never came back!I have always had that kind of pain since i was 16, especially when I sat for
long periods of time. The pain would often radiate towards the groin area
and my rheumy thought it was my hip joint. They did an x-ray and realized
that my hip was okay, but my sacroiliac joint on that side was eroded out
and widened. I soon after had my back go out because of the arthritis in that
joint. fun fun

Since I've gained some weight being on enbrel I haven't had much butt pain. But back in my MTX days when I was too thin my butt bones used to bother me all the time.

Indeed laughter is the best cure for any ailment!

Thanks for the butt input

Lilliput - the x-rays showed erosion in my sacroliliac joint so I think you must have solved the mystery.  You are not telling me my back is next are you????  Please nooooooo [QUOTE=kayobe]

Enbrel makes you gain weight?! I didnt know that. I thought it was just pred that did that. poop :(
I gained a few pounds on enbrel.  I lost most of it, but a couple "stuck" with me.  The doctor said she hadn't had other complaints, so I figured it was just me ;) woke up with the 'butt aches' this morning, no method to when that strikes either, ho hum, life gets ever more frustrating.    Interesting about the sacroiliac joint thing though, thats the one been giving me jip recently.
