5th disease | Arthritis Information

During the winter of 04 I was exposed to 5th disease 3 times.  I just found out that I was exposed again last month.  My Rheumatologist says that exposures to 5th disease produce symptoms that resemble RA but goes away after 6-9 months.  He thinks that the reason I have felt so bad may have been due to another exposure to this virus.  He had been chaulking it up to possible enbrel failure but now that we know about the new exposure, he feels it is due to this. Has anyone else heard about this?

I've never heard of it...but it sounds like very good news to me.

I know 6/9months sounds like a long time....but it's a lot better than a lifetime!! You can always hope...for your sake I sure hope he's right.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

He confirmed that while I have RA, I might have picked up this virus as an additional complication.  He told me not to expect that in 6-9 months that I'd be cured because I won't be.  I might have less acute symptoms but I will still have RA.
