Does anyone have any experience with the Enbrel SureClick?  I have to do this tomorrow am and I was wondering if anyone had any helps to minimize bruising and pain.  I do not think you actually see the needle.  I know they will teach me but I was just wondering from others which site is best to inject, if they had any problems, etc....
Thank you.
Beccy,
I have been using it for 6 weeks now.  I inject right into the top of my thigh and it is not bad at all.  It is so easy to use...you don't see the needle at all.  It clicks once when you push the button and it clicks a second time when the medicine is done dispensing.
I am a complete needle-phob and I have no issues doing it.
Oh...take the shot out of the fridge and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes before you inject...that helps.
Good luck!!
Jen
Jen,

Are you on anything else, meds wise?  I am on the Avara , but I think I am going to stop it.. I want my hair back.  It thinned so much with the Avara.  Did the Enbrel do anything to your hair?  I am glad it is working for you.
I am on MTX also....17.5 mgs a week.  I have not had any side effects from the Enbrel.  It has made the difference that being on MTX alone didn't.  Now I am off the prednisone also and feel great.

Good luck!
beccy--

I answered your post about the SureClick in the Enbrel forum.

As far as Enbrel effects on your hair--I don't ever remember reading of any side effects regarding hair (and I read a lot of stuff before starting!)  Also I haven't noticed any difference in my hair in the four weeks I've been on Enbrel.

Good luck--
dordale I use a Humira quick pen. It does hurt...I'll admit; but it's so quick; I'll never go back to the other needles. It's MUCH better. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Humira pens!!!  Took away lots of the anxiety of injecting myself. When I was little I wanted to get diabeates so that I could stab myself with the needles :| I don't think I was a normal kid...But I don't think I'd want one of those pens..I'd rather have a straight up injection. Is that weird?!?! LOL I think it's weird....I always want to put the IV in Justin when we go to the ER too. I feel like I've seen it enough that I could do it better, he's so hard to get a line in. If I ever get to where I'm on any of these meds, I'll be sure to let you all know what I went with, and how much I'm loving being able to use a needle...LOL!

I inject MTX and did inject Enbrel and Humira...I dont mind the MTX...but the Enbrel hurt...and the needles that the Humira came with really freaken hurt. I started switching the Humira into an empty TB syringe and that helped. I didnt get a chance to use the injectors, but at work I used injectors for insulin. The nurses complained about them and the hospital switched back to the old needles. With the insulin injectors, some of the insulin would leak back out of the skin as the needle retracted. I wonder if the Enbrel or Humira pens do this?

I like starting IVs...it is one of my best skills....I am especially good at poking babies....HAHAHA!!! I am the vampire, sucking out everyones blood!!!!!!!

I think the Humira itself stings. It's not so much the needles; as it is the medication as it's going in. The pens hasn't helped that; but it's over so fast you don't have time to over think it.

It does leave a bruse though. I think the pen pops ya so fast it's just going to happen no matter where or how you do it.

Still love it though.

yep...the humira gave me bruises....but that was also from the site reactions....I would forget and rub and scratch them....oooohhhh I dont miss that one bit!I absolutely hated the SureClick. I did it in my thigh. I believe I injected it into my muscle as I am thin and had trouble walking for a few days. I also got a huge injection site reaction the diameter of a basketball. I normally get softball size injection site reactions with the 25mg syringes. Since this was twice the medicine that may have been the problem.

I thought it also stung when it was injected. The 25mg syringes are painless.

Only tried it because my rheumy thought it would help with the reactions. Oh well....

Good luck to you. Some people like it because they can't see the needle.I had the dr. do it for me cause I actually froze.. I had no reaction at all.  I hope I can get the cour age to do it to myself.  It hurted alot but I feel great.  I do feel like a guine pig though.  I hope that my blood work all comes back good.
