Weight gain and starting Enbrel | Arthritis Information

 

Have many people gained weight while using the Enbrel???

I am starting it tomorrow

Growing up I never had a sweet tooth (or a "carb" tooth for that matter) pie, cake, cookies, blah!

Six months after starting Enbrel I discovered. . .>insert drumroll here< . . .apple pie

My rheumy said it was the reduction in inflammation, my sed rate went from 60-70 to 10-15 (7-10 being average). Active disease had suppressed my appetite and Enbrel unleashed it.

It did level off after a year or so but I really had to watch it to keep the weight off.

I'd be glad to put that 20lbs right back on if Enbrel would still work for me, but alasI have not gained any weight since being on Enbrel. Been on it since May of this year.My appetite is definetly up!!! I have been on enbrel for 18 months and I love what it has done for me. Except for the 30 extra pounds that I have gained since starting enbrel.  I don't know if it is related to enbrel but it is the only thing I can pin point the weight to.

I have been on Enbrel for 3 months and have not gained any weight (actually have lost 3lbs)...

Ive takemn enbrel for 4 months; gained 20 lbs...other than that; pain gone... stiffness greatly reduced!I have been on Enbrel for about 10 months now and haven't noticed any weight gain but that may be due to the Arava that I take as well. The arava sort of - to put it delicately - cleans me out a lot. I haven't noticed any change in appetite (thankfully) but then again I've always been a healthy eater.I have gained about 10 pounds in the first 2 months I have been on Enbrel.  Maybe it is just a coincidence.

Today is 8 weeks for me on Enbrel.

No weight gain here...or side effects at all really.

I started enbrel a couple of months ago and I haven't gained any weight.  Enbrel worked overnight for me, literally.  Hope it works well for you too

ive been on enbrel for seven months and i've gained 20 lbs. my eating habits
and excercise habits have stayed the same ... but suddenly when i started
the enbrel, my weight just started increasing. its a bummer cause it really
works ... it just makes me fat.

f*cking hell.I've been on Enbrel for four months and I have not gained any weight or noticed an increase in appetite.  Actually, I have eaten less.  But at least the pain and swelling is gone which is the important thing.  Thank God for Enbrel or any of the other drugs that are out there.  I don't know what I would do without it.  I had a 5 month stretch this past summer where the meds I was on quit working and had to endure the pain and swelling until I was put on Enbrel.I was on enbrel for about 5 weeks and gained about 5 pounds. I blame it on the enbrel because I have alway been a steady weight and very thin. oh well Has anyone started enbrel for 3 weeks and then got the flu and could not take it. It is going on 2 weeks now unable to take it. On tamiflu for 15 days now and today they added a antobolic because I have sisnus infection and sounds in both my lungs. So if any one had to stop it and start again because of illness. I would like to know if when starting it again will it help just as good. JoanI had to stop Enbrel shortly after starting it due to a cold. When I started back up it worked just as well except I started getting injection site reactions (and still do 2 years later).
