So, I was hospitalized in April for asthma, so was on steroids for
that. Then from July-Sept. I was on prednisone. Now I have
high blood pressure that won't go away. Today it was 155/99. I
also am 9 days late (but not pregnant). I am a relatively healthy
24 year old and I eat pretty well most of the time. I snack on
fresh veggies and make very well balanced meals. I cook with
olive oil and don't use a lot of salt. Well, my doc now thinks it
could be a whole host of other problems, so I had to get a
bunch of blood tests and I have to get an angiogram (to rule
out renal artery stenosis). He doesn't think it is from the
prednisone, he said it would be getting gradually better, not
worse, and he didn't think I was on it long enough to cause
problems. Now I am very worried about all of this. I didn't know
if there was anyone on here with hormone issues or high blood
pressure caused by something other than diet. I'm freakin' out,
so any input would help!!
Sara, has he tested your thyroid???? I think that's a good idea if he hasn't. Having a crazy thyroid can really mess stuff up :( And it's also an immune disorder (technically) so with us already having RA, we're prone! Best of luck to you, and keep us updated!

Check that out, and then go ahead and read "The Basics" so you get a better idea. That really was the first thing that hit my brain when I read your symptoms. It's so much more common than people realize! You do NOT have to have all of those symptoms to have a thyroid problem!! Keep that in mind! :)
