How is the pain now? (First post) | Arthritis Information

I have only recently started seeing a rheumatologist for severe hip/back pain. After getting Bilateral SI injections (which provided relief for about 3 weeks
Anyway on to my question, I would like to know how much of a reduction in pain there was for people after taking enbrel? 50%? 80%?  My doc hasn't given me anything for pain and seems to think Enbrel will relieve the pain. Does Enbrel actually reduce the pain or does it just stop the progression of the disease?  Right now I'm just taking lots and lots of Advil to get me mobile enough to get to work but I can't manage much more than a hobble. Without the Advil I'm pretty much bed-ridden.
Also how long did it take to "precertify" you to take it? Apparently she started the process this week.

Good to see there is an online forum for this. Look forward to see what everyone had to say

i started enbrel in february and saw almost immediate results. That with the other drugs i am on helped to reduce the swelling. Its the swelling that causes much of the pain. The past 2 days i have been virtually pain free and i took the enbrel this morning.

My RD did most of the work and i got a call from bioscript to set up delivery. i think from the time i agreed to the meds until i got them was less than 3 weeks if i remember right. (body works, but mind goes!)

hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

Enbrel worked wonders for me, took 3 months to notice improvement. It stopped working after 2+yrs.
