Jaw or ear? | Arthritis Information

Hi there!

Does anyone else have this? Pain in front of my right ear lobe. Ear drops won't go down that ear! Only hurts when I touch it, jaw does click/crack, but doesn't hurt, pretty sure it always has! (pre RA) Ear feels blocked... :(

Thanks :)

Sounds like an ear infection.  Do you have a fever?

Nope... I really hope so! I'm scared

If it was the jaw joint, wouldn't it be in both sides?

Humm..... well since I got my medical degree in the last box of cereal, I would think that if the jaw bone doesn't hurt, then it must be inside the ear canal.  And, why can't you put drops in?  Is it clogged?

Thanks Vicki

Yeah, I failed medical school! My only training is the intrenet.. Well, it just won't go down.. Seems blocked. Pain around the ear, right where the joint is tho..

Of course my "medical training" tells me that the jaw would be the last to be affected with RA, and I still haven't even been diagnosed! hmmmm

Tam - eeeehhhhhhh(buzzer sound) My jaw was one of the first thing effected, it got all wonky and stunted the growth. But now it's pretty much okay. I'd say you've got an ear infection. What kind of ear drops are you using? And how are you putting them in? Try to get some earwax disolving kind, and use a baby nose plunger thingy. Only they make them for ears. You know those blue bubble things with the tip? Anywho...do this:

FILL the blue bubble thing with hot/warm water. Squeeze it into the ear, and keep your head tilted to the side, count to 20. Lean over and let it all out. Then do the same with the ear wax medicine. You might break some of it up that way. I've been down this road *so* many times. :| That or just suck it up and see a doc! LoL!

Hey, my mother used to put Hydrogen Peroxide in my ears.  It would bubble up and break up any ear wax.  Then you would swab it to get the stuff out...  Just a thought. Oh. Wow. That sounds....NEAT! I need to be on your team for Trivial Pursuit.  Unless it is the Disney version.  I know lots about Disney.

I do the hydrogen peroxide thing too.  Hubby has to constantly do his ears since he welds and grinds and all sorts of nasties gets in there.  It works really well.

I had a flare once in my jaw. It lasted almost a week and I had completely blocked remembering it until I read your post. Sadly, I didn't lose any weight. Hope your jaw is better! Thanks all, well it feels that my entire jaw muscles now ache. This is not so fun...
