Went for a drive | Arthritis Information

   Hi,
Haven't been around too much. I've been busy trying to get back to near normal with my new knee. I can now sit at a table like a normal person, drive my car, and get out. Can't keep on going like that pink bunny but try. It took several sleepless nights, cause from muscle cramps, to make me realize that I can only do just so much before I have to stop.
Will try to keep in touch and tell you about my adventures as I walk down the recovery road with my new knee.
Crunchy, I cooked a small dinner the other night. It was just pasta with a ground meat sauce but it tasted sooo good.

MarisaAbsolutely glad to see you back here and know you are doing so much better. You have been missed.Hi there, I have been gone a lot too.  It is nice to see some familiar people around.  Take care of yourself and enjoy the car ride, and don't forget to blast the music.

Marissa Sue,

When did you have your surgery? I had mine replaced 11 days ago.  I am having the worst time not being on my RA meds but I think I am doing ok.  Just wanted to see what your time line was for getting back into driving and not using the walker etc.....

Chris

How long did they make you go off your meds before and after? Which meds did they take you off of?

Deanna,

I am on Remicade and my last infusion was Sept. 6th.  I get them every 6 weeks.  Doctor wants me to wait for 4 weeks post surgery to start up again.  I continued my Plaquinel - they said that was ok, but no anti-inflammatories since 2 weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after !  I am hurting . They tell me after surgery it is because they put you on Coumidin for a month.

Am in a lot of pain - but switched my pain meds today back to Tramadol every 4 hours.  I am limited in the pain meds department due to migraine tendencies with some of them.

Chris

Marisa,  It is GREAT to see you.  Glad you are on the mend.  Doesn't it suck having to learn limits Thanks. It feels good to be able to type away and not have my leg stuck out to the side. There's things that I still can't do. I can't do any heavy lifting and can't walk without support. My PT lady wants to get me off the walker and on to my quad cane. Since the day after surgery, I've had good balance and was getting up and walking a few steps the day after surgery. The hardest part is sitting as my leg didn't want to bend.
It's been six weeks and my leg/knee still is swollen. It looks funny when I look in the mirror. Can't wear some of my jeans as they're to tight around the knee.
Just started to drive and it felt funny for a few mins. but soon I was doing okay. Couldn't drive until I could bend the knee and hold it comfortably.
One last thing, if you need a knee replacement, don't wait as long as I did. I did some major damage to my knee and the doc had a hard time fixing it.
