avoiding germs in public | Arthritis Information

Im the type of person who shuts their eyes, and mouth and plugs the nose when anyone sneezes a big germ cloud that I have to walk through.
Its just so disgusting especially when on immune system altering drugs.
I was at walmart tonight and had to ninja roll about six germ clouds.

Has this cold weather season made anyone else ultra paranoid?
I'm a teacher, and germs never bothered me before... but this year, being on planquenil and MTX, I know have that antibacterial stuff on my desk, and have caught myself sub consciencely rubbing it on my hands after a kids sneezes or coughs!!!   I also wipe down the phone with the antibacterial wipes, and I never did that before.  Before ya know it, I'll be one of those ppl who uses the restroom and opens the door with a paper towel!!!   This damn disease really can screw with your mind....

Hand sanitizer, anti bacterial wipes, and lysol are what I use.  It's not ultra paranoid....it's ultra careful lol.

I have many teenagers in and out of the house all the time and they know now to just come in, take off their shoes, and go use the hand sanitizer lol.

I've always been a germaphobe, but now it's just that much worse.  I have 2 kids in daycare, so I'm not sure how this whole thing is going to work.  I'm really focusing on washing my hands a lot, and their hands.

This is an email I rec'd from a friend.  Hope it helps.

This is pretty interesting and good to know.

I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little old bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under .00 at any drug store.
My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars."
  1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe) No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. (small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle)
  2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of "Peroxide" to keep them free of germs.
  3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, o r spray it on the counters.
  4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
  5. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
  6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
  7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
  8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into a tissue.
  9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the
50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.
  11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils,
fungus, or other skin infections.
  12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, Pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
  13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much for this. I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without!
With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner.

I'm the same way when I'm out. When I hear a sneeze or cough I head the other way, holding my breath, pinching my lips closed. I carry all sorts of things to scrub myself with. lol And yes, I'm one of the paper towel hand holders when opening the B/R door. I've been around a long time & NEVER acted like this. I had my dog out the other day & some child picked her up. Child had a runny nose. Well, ChrissyBelle got a bath when we came inside.

Stay Germ Free, Girls & Boys!!!!!

My teenager has had a temp for 5 days. He is coughing and coughing....off to the pediatrician this morning.

I have been walking around all weekend with those clorox wipes. I have wiped down keyboards, phones, remotes, light switches and door knobs.

Today I woke up with a sore throat!! AGGGGGGG

now & then

Here's another one for perioxide

14) Helps acne-like conditions. Does not dry the heck out of your skin like alcohol products.

I just read an article  yesterday about how some politicians refuse to use sanitizing wipes or Purell when they go out and "press the flesh" at rallies etc.  I was appalled. They said truly stupid things like they didn't want to look like wimps..

How DARE they  endanger people's health?

I did not know that about peroxide. Good to know. During the cold and flu season I will avoid going into restaraunts and such. I wash my hands a lot and the first thing I so when I come home from anyplace is wash my hands for a good 20 seconds with lots of soap. So far I avoided any colds/flu last year and I hope that I can avoid them this year too.
