stopping enbrel when sick | Arthritis Information

So i have a quesion, Ive taken 5 injections of enbrel, and I wasnt so sure if it was working or not, somedays were better but some werent anyway now im on antibiotics so my doctor told me to stop, so ive been off enbrel for a bit less then a week, and my joints are awfull!! does this mean the enbrel is working? I dont get it...i dont get to go back on it for another week and a half :( let me know what you think!! thanksIt takes about 3 weeks to start making a noticable effect.  I've been on it for over 10 years now and it maintains a fairly decent livability.  I dont  take my shots if i have a real bad cold or infection.  I went from almost not being able to walk to functioning quite well.   The efficacy of Enbrel varies from person to person. I had major noticable benefits the day of my first injection. Amongst other things, I long suffered from a frozen trigger finger and literally an hour after the first injection I was able to fully bend it with no problem. My shoulder pain also disappeared immediately.

Some people can take up to a few months to notice anything. I have heard more than a few say how after months of injections they had finally come to the realization that they feel better, and because it was incremental it was not necessarily noticable.

Think about RA pain. We all have probably been getting worse and worse at some point in our lives. But because sometimes it happens so slowly it takes awhile to figure it out. Only when the pain or swelling reaches a certain point does it sink in. (of course other times its like a Mack truck).

Hey, ok thats not really what i meant, i know it takes awhile for it to work, what i meant was is it possible to notice a difference when you stop cause you are sick, i had to take 2 weeks off, and wow i dont remember thelast time i hurt like that....so that means enbrel is helping me right cause i didnt hurt so much when i was taking it...I know I occasionally feel achey the day I am due for my next injection. But I also went off it for two weeks while sick and didn't notice any pain coming back during that interim.

Just another way this disease can be inconsistent.I know I occasionally feel achey the day I am due for my next injection. But I also went off it for two weeks while sick and didn't notice any pain coming back during that interim.

Just another way this disease can be inconsistent.oops, that's what happen when you walk away from the copmuter for awhile!
