Prednisone | Arthritis Information

So I'm asking this more for Justin than anyone, but you guys have as much or more experience with it than he does...

He's on a taper down of something close to 40(not pills, the dosage) for 6 days, 35 for 6, 30 for 5 days, 25 for 5, etc etc etc.

He's been having horrible pains in his shoulders and lower back and sides. He thought the pred wasn't working and that it was the Crohn's coming through. However - he decided to work through it and clean the house. And I mean he CLEANED. He vaccumed, took trash out, re-arranged the tables and some things on the wall, dusted, etc etc. When he was done, he felt GREAT and continued for about 20 HOURS before the pains started coming back.

He's taken pred before and never had this happen - however the last time he had to be on this much of it, he was working as the AGM of The Bijou Theatre in Chatt. TN. VERY VERY busy and fast paced.

What I'm wondering is if anyone else feels pains or severe restlessness when they're on pred, and finds relief in doing physical activity? Are we crazy??

And for those of you who don't know what to do, that DO feel this...heck, give it a shot, maybe we're onto something?

Thanks!

Katie

Hi Katie,

I was just on a treatment very similar to the one you just mentioned and yes  I  started doing things I  would not normally do, all in one day.  For me it was gardening (I love to tend my garden).  I  dug out two of my flower beds and replanted them all in one day.  Of course my husband helped alittle, and he was even surprised at the energy and stamina I had. Yes I gained some wait, but who cares I was feeling  great.   Now I am down to 5mg a day and my energy is better than before but not as great as when I was on a higher dose.  I have slowed down.  Now I am worried about the side affects.  I know all our  meds have great sideaffects anyways but I can't help to worry.  Yesterday I was told that I look funny, really puffy looking.  Well to that persons defense, he has no clue what desease i live with, or what meds I take, but it still hurt.  Now who knows if it is possible to get that puffy look on such a low dose???  Maybe I just don't notice it, or maybe that's just me!!
