One More Question about Sure Click! | Arthritis Information

I inject my Enbril very slowly because of the burn. I was wondering, when you inject with the sure-click.. Does is just go in quickly and burn like hell? I realize it may only last a few seconds but OWWWWW.

Also, don't you have to check to make sure you are not in a vein. How do you make sure with the sure click??

OK it's actually 2 questions.

Thanks

Hi Gena,

I didn't have Enbril, I had humira and it burned like all get out.  Good luck.

I did enbrel for a while but just the regular inections.  I never thought the enbrel burned though.  I now do Humira and use the pen and it does go very quick and it does burn like hell!

I wondered about the vein thing too?  Not sure the correct answer there!

You shouldn't be hitting a vein because you are pinching your skin before you inject.  I think the sure clicks are made so that you don't hit a vein.  The only problem I found with the sure click is that my injection site bleeds a little more.  Are you guys warming your Humira to room temp before injecting?  It seems to help with the dreaded burn.  I set mine in the bathroom when I shower and by the time I'm ready to inject after my shower the Humira is at room temp.I wouldn't worry about hitting a vein with the SureClick as I think it goes deep enough. I think the SureClick burned the whole time it went in (I even let it sit out for 30 min). No way to control the flow of the medicine. Much prefer the 25mg syringes which are painless and if you are sensitive you can control how fast or slow you inject.

Thanks all. I may just stay with my needles. I set mine out before I shower as well and it still burns like hell. I have to inject very slowly to control the burn.

Gena--

Thought I'd chime in too.  I use the Enbrel SureClicks--have never used the syringes.  I do like the SureClicks because they are very easy to use--and a big plus is that I never see the needle!

I do have to admit that the injection does sting like crazy.  I can put up with it because it only lasts 10-15 seconds.  I do take the injector out of the fridge about half an hour before I do my injections, too.

All in all, I'm glad I have the SureClicks--but wish I could find a way to lessen the sting.

dordale Gena, I am with Dordale... I like never seeing the needle. I am not looking forward to the sting(tomorrow am), but  I will  try to sit it out in the am  before my shower to see if it helps.  I  am letting my husband give me the shot because then I can just concentrate on outing the stinging , and they are really easy to use that I trust him more than me to do it,  I wouldn't be afraid of them but if your more comfortable with the needles maybe stick with what your comfortable with.  I just hate needles.  Maybe you could try the  sureclick for a month and see if you like them better.  Good luck.
