Does anyone take Darvocett? I am concerned that I have been taking it every day. My rd says that it is the least of my worries I know that the effects will decrease over time if you take it
regularly, but Darvocet isn't a very strong pain killer, so I would try
not to worry about it too much. I don't take it daily, but
sometimes in a flare I will take it for a few days in a row. Hope
you are feeling better soon.
Hi, as long as you are taking it only when needed, and as prescribed, you should be ok. I liked the feeling it gave me and found myself taking higher and higher doses until I was addicted. I abused it. I did not stick to using it as needed, as prescribed. If you begin doing as I did, seek help before you end up like I did. It was hell. I think some people are more prone to addictions than others. I like the "high energy" that comes with narcotics. Normal people use them for pain. If you're in the normal group, I wouldn't be too concerned. love and gentle hugs, Juliah edited to add: I agree, that Darvocet is a weaker of the narcotics. It no longer does anything at all for me. p.s....I've been off narcotics now for 6 months. I think I need to take the "big guns" now as I am still trying to learn how to cope! I wish the damn anti-depressants would kick in. I don't think I have to worry too much about addiction as I do not really like the "high". I miss my energy level..........
I've been prescribed pain medications like you all speak of; but have never really used them for fears like Roxy is referring to. In your case I wouldn't worry Roxy; but I'm more like Juliahh. I enjoy the buzz and don't want to get to use to those things...I'm afraid I could be an abuser too. The times I have been in so much pain I used them...I did just like you Juliahh. I'll admit to being a heavy ibuprofern user though...I take a great deal of this; which isn't the best idea either; but my doctor is aware of it and the fact that I want to reduce my amount of prescription drugs and take things "as needed" as often as possiable rather than the routine of something precribed. That's one reason I like HUmira nd MTX so much...it's just once a week; then forget it. I have a hard time keeping up with medications daily unless I'm in horible pain. Karen, To answer your question - it was my rd that prescribed it but mds have also prescribed it before I was dx. I don't like vicoden which they always offer so that is my alternative. I worry about developing a tolerance because I do not want to live with pain with no relief. It sounds like so many of you do. It might not take all the pain away but it takes that sharp edge off! 6XMUM, THANKS. i'LL CHECK OUT THE SITE. I AM SURPRISED AND AS USUAL, UNINFORMED.
apparently Tramadol is a weak Narcotic similar to Vicoden but not as effective.
Here is a page that compares some pain relievers, if it helps
any. Ultram isn't exactly a narcotic because it only blocks some
of the pain receptors. Nonetheless, it is considered stronger
than Darvocet, which is a very weak opiod.

I just know what I've read and my RD has told me. Ask your
pharmacist though; he/she is likely to have way better info than I do!
