Hi everyone.  I've been reading all your posts for awhile and have been getting some very good information as am new at all of this.  Diagnosed with RA 5 months ago with a major flare affecting mostly my hands and wrists.  Last week I developed a sinus infection and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with getting over illnesses like this and if RA affects your ability to fight it. Doc gave me anti-biotic but only have 2 more days on it. Still feel awful.  Taking 5 mg of prednisone for RA and its working ok for now.  Swelling is down and able to use hands again.  Its just this sinus infection that won't quit.  Feel awful and

Jeanne is right.  The pred, the RA, and the DMARDS make it so we can't fight off bugs really easily.  Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are great.

The pred will make you not sleep along with not feeling well and the RA.  Some people will ask their docs for something that will help them sleep.

Definitely call your doc and ask for another round of antibiotics.  I made the mistake of not doing that and my simple sinus infection turned into pneumonia and a viral syndrome.  I was very very sick and just now starting to feel better and able to do things around the house again.

Pred. effects your ability to fight off illness.  Sinus infections are the worse.  I have many gross stories from passed sinus infections    Welcome Paula, I agree with what everyone else has told you. Please go back to the doc for more antibiotics if still having trouble. My doc had to put me on another kind as the infection wasn't clearing up. Second go around did the trick.
