Crunchy & Crackly? | Arthritis Information

Is it typical with RA to have a crunchy or crackly sound when you move and use your joints? I was diagnosed almost 4 months ago but in the last couple weeks when I move my hands & feet they are very noisy. Is that weird?...I mean I know I'm weird

the girls  behind the counter started cheering and applauding, told me I won the noisy joint contest for that day...

I love that office. believe it or not we have fun there.

Yes, me too. The worst is sometimes I open my mouth and my jaw cracks withthe most amazingly loud crack. I'm a teacher and it's really embarrasing when it happens in the classroom. The other ones make noise too, especially the knees. My knees and wrists go snap crackle pop all the time.  I feel like rice krispies sometimes lol.My knees sound like those Snap Its that you throw on the ground and my wrists are extremely "crunchy". Glad I'm not the only one with crunchy joints. One of my knees sounds like one of those old fashioned noise makers where you held a handle and had to force it to swing around in a circle so it made a long snapping sound, only happens coming down the stairs. It's my ankles.... ever since I was in high school, I could never sneak in after my curfew.... my ankles gave me away everytime
. . .when I was at the rheumy's office when they called my name  and I stood up. My knees sounded like someone shot a rifle in the office.
ROTFL

I dread eating out because when it's time to leave I'm stiff as a board. I have to carefully stand holding on to the table to "unbend" my rusty knees, and then drunkenly (I don't drink) weave my way out of the dining room. It never fails, just when I think I've made it out with the least amount of humiliation - my right knee pops like a gun going off, startling everyone around me.

"No, no! I didn't fire a weapon! It was just my knee exploding. Please enjoy your entrees. . ." My life is like a Fawlty Towers episode.Yep.....got the knee crunching too... especially on the stairs.
Ankles are more of a pop. My jaw also makes horrible cracking
sounds when I yawn. I have woken my husband up on more
than one occasion. If I dance it sounds like I'm wearing tap
shoes!

Vicki, you brought back a found memory. My ankles have cracked all my life. I used to drive my little sister nuts on cold, winter nights cracking them as I tried to get my feet warm. She was such a pest, I enjoyed it very much.

It made up for the (since the age of 5) question, at 9:00 p.m. everynight when we were supposed to be in bed. "P-s-s-t, Dee, Dee, what do boys like?" I was was 12, what did I know.
