Lupus & RA | Arthritis Information

I am having a complication...possibly due to my meds. I have a rash on my thighs and face. Also, the nerve endings in the muscles of my legs are on fire. I am used to joint pain...this muscle ache was not a welcome addition. RD tested me for Lupus. Does anyone else have this crossover. What am I up for????

Thanks

Yes, you can have either mixed connective tissue disease or Rupus which is RA and Lupus both.

Mostly, they treat them with a lot of the same medications. They might add a couple though. And, you might see if being in the sun bothers you.

The rash could also be from other things though. Be sure to mention the nerve ending pain. That description sounds like neuropathy.

I think it is going to take some real investigation on your doctor's part. They should do tests and narrow down the problems.

Maybe it's no more than an allerigic reaction. It is common to have a rash on your face with Lupus, but I don't think so much with the legs. I had that reaction from allergies to sulfa and penacillin. Even the muscle pain might be a fleeting thing.

Try not to worry too much until you know more.

A few months ago my doctor thought I had 'drug induced lupus', which comes on because of all the meds I am taking.  I had a blood test, urine test and it came back negative.  The itchy feeling and pain on my skin went away after a while.  Hope that is your outcome too.  Let us know. I have a feeling that this could be drug induced as well. I will get the results tomorrow. I feel great because I am back on the dose pack of prednisone. My goal was to stay off the steroids. Oh well....I was off for 8 months. Here we go again!
