I get them everyday...sometimes they are in my neck and shoulders, but i also get them across my back. They are so painful. I am having physio at the moment and she has found lots of knots in my muscles and she uses massage mostly...my neck muscles are alot better.

I am very happy Debbie, that you are getting help for your spasums, they are very painful, I get them in my spinal cord, down my back and into my legs.  I can't lay down on my back anymore, I have to sleep on my side, and sometimes I have to just sleep in a chair all night.

What can any of us do?  I've tried whatever my rheumatologist tells me to and for over twenty years, I've been getting worse by the minute, any suggestions?

I don't know if this is helpful or not but about 6 mos ago I started taking provigil and the muscle spasms in my neck and shoulders have stopped. I had spasms that were so bad that sometimes I thought my bones would break. Provigil is not intended for spasms but I did read recently that children who had cerebral palsy and were unable to walk because of spasms were able to start to walk after being given provigil.

Hope that helps. You sure have my sympathy.

I've only begun to have spasms across my back (about the bra line and below)  It seems if I stand for too long.. or carry something... or just do normal household activities, I get them when I stop.  It takes my breath away sometimes.
