Chat room | Arthritis Information

 

Liz brought up a very good idea to me the other day. Why don't we have a chat room for the times when so many of us are online together? That way we're not posting on top of each other and making 80 page threads and losing track of who wrote what where and when. LoL Justin is willing to make us a web-based chat room. It would be attached to my site and would require you to create a user name and password. The perk to this would be that the admin account would be able to moderate the chat, and ban people by their IP addresses, so no kokako88's or any of those people! :) Just a place for us to hang out on those sore days when you don't feel like moving too much, or like me when you're at work with NOTHING to do.
I'm not saying we should ditch AI, it's a great board, but this way we can cut out some of the extra stuff. Ya know? What does everyone think?

I had talked to Joonie about it too.  She thought it was a good idea also.  The chat room would also be awesome for those of us that can't sleep at night.  Or real time venting. 

We should still post because the info here is great.  We can use the chat room to discuss it more too.  Newbies might also feel a little more welcome and a little more comfortable with real time answers to their questions too.

There are times I get 5 or 6 PM's at once and a chat room would just be so much easier lol.   

 

 

grammaskittles39030.5091435185Well, Justin is going to work on creating it today. I'll let you know when it's up and running for sure. We've never done a full chat room before. He's made clients to use for yahoo chat.....but this is kinda new. It could take a couple of days. It will be IRC based, if anyone knows what that is. It's just a chat program, but it's VERY easy to manipulate, and create your own. I'll keep you posted!

I'm in!Great idea!!!  The "roadback" board has a chat room but there is never anyone in there.  I think it would be a great thing for many of us!  Count me in!

It's offical!!! We have a chat room! If you visit my site www.katieswonderland.vze.com you'll see a button for RA Chat. Click it!! CLICK IT!! LoL You can then chose your username and nickname and password. Your username is what is registered in the system, and your nickname is just what shows up in the chat room. So far the firewall at my work blocks it, so you kids are on your own! ENJOY! Hopefully by Saturday I'll be able to join you all from work...where I sit on my bum bum and do NOTHING. Hahahahaha

Liz told me to EDIT THIS. But I think it's funnier if I just leave it, and let you all know, you do not need a password. Because I'm retarded. And only admins use passwords. Hahahahaha Sorry about that. I haven't even SEEN it yet.

The only way to use passwords is if you register your nickname - if you do this you will have an account with IRC chat, no big thing it's kinda like Yahoo only a bit more stripped of all the flashy buttons and colors.

If we get too many weirdos bugging us, I can set a master password for us all to use, but for now, it's pretty simple. Type in a name and chat away!

If you have ANY questions, feel free to ask me or Liz, she's already used it so she should know what's going on!

arriscolwell39030.7200810185 Katie you are a good girl and listened to your elders lol.  The chat room works great!  I am off and on all day and evening and the middle of the night.  So if it is empty dont give up!  Someone will pop in there.  Many of us don't sleep and activity will prolly pick up late late at night and during the day.

Yay! Thank Justin, he's the one that set it all up for us! And he's NEVER done it before! Woohoo! We're still working on getting around it here at work. LoL Once we get that situated, I'll be in that sucker from 3-11 every day I work. LoL Like Liz said, don't give up, SOMEONE will pop in!

To do so, once you are in the channel (chat room), type the following:

/NickServ REGISTER [desired password] [your email]

(don't include the []'s)

Once registered, to identify yourself upon each visit, just type the following:

/NickServ IDENTIFY [password]

For those of you familiar with IRC and client use (mIRC, Trillian, etc.) you can connect from the following:

irc.ircstorm.net Port:6667 Channel:#RAChat

Heehee. I'm heading over there now...jeez, I'm not on here for like  20 hours and all this fun stuff happens!

Since the chat room is so new I have decided that since I have NO LIFE, I will be in it as much as I can so people won't feel lonely.  You can tell if I am in there if I am signed into the forum. 

The chat room has been up about half a day and so far the people that have popped in there have really liked it.  So come have some fun or vent or just whatever!  Remember to keep posting tho!

   Chat room sounds like fun. Since I don't get on my PC to often, had to get a cheaper plan with only a few hours allow per month, I'll be only posting.
   Enjoy the chat room.
