Hate turning your head to check your blind spot? Use those little round mirrors that you stick to your side mirrors. I never used to believe in them, until Justin made me get them, and they REALLY do show you entire blind spot. It takes some getting used to, but man is it NICE to have.

Also, if I know I'm going to be driving for a while (my drive to work is anywhere from 40mins to an hour) I wear slip on shoes, and kick them off as soon as I'm in the car. If my feet cramp, I have the felxability to move them around without my shoes on. It's totally illegal though, at least in FL. But who the hell is gonna notice that????

Great idea about the mirrors! I wear crocs most of the time or flip flops anyways...I used to drive barefoot all of the time!I still haven't quite figured out what to do about my back pain while driving. I try to keep the seat in the most up-right position I can. Still, I have trouble with it. *sigh* Every christmas they put out those  back support things for in the car and in office chairs (you know those tacky mid-aisle displays that walmart does with the crappy foot massagers and foot baths and beaded/warming/vibrating seat covers, etc etc lol) I always look at them, and I think about buying one, but I'm so afraid of being disapointed. The last two things we bought out of that selection ended up being a huge bust. *sigh* Oh well. Any ideas for that area??

Here's a decent site with product info and reviews - http://www.abledata.com/abledata.cfm?pageid=19327&top=13 055&deep=2&trail=22,12999,13054

To be honest, I've never found anything that helps with my back pain. All those pillows/cushions/beads/magnetic magic woo junk just made it worse.LOL The bathroom thing. UGH. When I'm out I always try to use the handicap stall, it's just easier. I have an SUV, and I actually have a hard time climbing INTO the damn thing. :| I'll check that site out, thanks. :)

Yeah it's hard to get a good balance, height/comfort vs. decent mileage. I'm looking to replace my (gas guzzling) minivan now and it's like Goldilocks and the three SUVs.

Some of the "crossovers" (Matrix, Fit, Versa, etc) look promising.

Lynk39046.8529861111I've decided my major draw to a car is whether or not it has a trunk. For some unknown reason, I HATE trunks. :| I LOVE the Matrix for that reason. It's adorable..I can't wait to trade in my beast for something like that.....

I love the look of the Scion Xa and Xb but they have that wacky console in the center set up! It would be a minute and half before I drove the thing off the road.

I have a hard time holding onto the steering wheel, especially turning corners, owie that hurts!  Has anyone tried one of those spinner knobs for the steering wheel and do they help?  I know they're illegal in some states and you have to get a special permission type thing from the DMV to use one and if it's like that in my state I'd be willing to get one IF and only IF they help with driving.

We have owned a honda "car" forever.  The day we bought the honda van is the day I died and went to heaven.  What I noticed was the seat is higher and not as much leg room.  For whatever reason that combination allowed me to drive comfortably for 3 hours without my back killing me.  I tried to duplicate this in our cars with zero success.  I cried the day we had to sell our van because I knew it spelled instant "back pain" whenever we drive to my inlaws home.

Has anyone else noticed a difference between driving a van and their car which is related to back pain?

As for the steering wheel knob, you better be very careful using one especially with power steering. You can easily oversteer and end up in a ditch.  Those knobs sure come in handy on a tractor that does not have power steering.
