well the results are in and ....

I broke my elbow.

I went to see the dr and got x-rays and he said well looks to be broken. And I was like no it is not, and he was like yes it is, and I was like no it is not and then he said well lets go look at your xrays and you can see it is broke. Then he showed me the tip of my elbow was not even connected and looked to be moving around and I said ok so maybe it is broke... but it does not hurt and has not hurt much since the swelling went down. He was like I do not know, but it is broke... so what orthopaedic doctor you want to see? I was like the closest one which was in the same building as him.

Sooo... the bone dr said I needed surgery to put my elbow back together so my muscle will support my arm again. Seems the part I broke is the part where the muscle are attached to the bone and the muscle cannot support my arm as it is moving around with the broken bone. That is why it felt dislocated when I would raise my arm the muscle was not supporting it. Bone dr asked if I wanted pain meds and I said no and he looked at me with a shocked look and I said it does not hurt and it does not feel broke and he said well it is.

Sooo... I am off to surgery on thursday.

joonie39030.836724537JOONIE!!!! WHAT DID WE TELL YOU?!!??! Argh. You're like a 5 year old. LOL We love you. You'll do FINE. And you'll be all better, and at least it doesn't hurt, right? There's an upside to EVERYTHING! You're such a goober.

well if i went when it was swelled they would have just sent me home to wait out the swelling. Sooo...

Yeah both dr's were shocked that I waited almost 2 weeks before getting in checked out.

And the lab tech she had me put my arm in funky ways and if I would have went when it was swelled it would not have went into those positions.

but i have no pain unless i jerk my arm, raise my arm above my head, or push it to far back. and what little pain i do have 800mg of IBU works great.

Oh Joonie, I am so sorry!  That is not the news you wanted to hear.  But thank goodness you went to the doctor!

I can't believe you aren't hurting like crazy.  You must be one tough lady.

I thought that looked serious!

Good Luck with your surgery. Hope everything goes smoothly.

nah, not tough, come thursday if i am not put under and it is just a local anestetic I will be crying like a baby because of the sight of the needle they will use to deaden my arm.

Besides I have had 26 years to learn toi deal with pain, and sometimes I can handle it and other times - when I am ran down mentally I cannot handle my pain well. But good thing I am not ran down mentally now.

Let's see how I do after surgery

I had to.....don't kill me....

I

well, it is true. still does not feel broke. I think it is a conspiracy, they used someone elses broken elbow x-rays and are trying to more money out of me to help pay their light bill

Told ya nothing good ever comes from when you visit a doctor. *shrugs*

I'm sure they'll put you to sleep. Will you have to stay at the hospital? Or can you leave after a while?

Do not know anything yet until I go to pe-register on Monday.

joonie, joonie, joonie---don't have a bit of stubbornness in you, do you? But I guess that's what has got you this far. Wish it was better news. Joonie!  A big we told ya so!!

Oh dear. Finally I'm catching up - got sick over the weekend and did not catch the news in a timely manner. I'm sorry Joonie.

When I broke my elbow I just cracked the radial head - by the time I got around to having it checked out - it was half way healed. I sure wish it had turned out like that for you.

I won't wait so long next time. Neither should you - I think pred use has made our bones brittle.

thanks marian

I will not next time, hopefully there will not be a next time
