I have been to PT many times now, but this time I keep going in and out of flares during it. I keep having to stop and start again, and I feel bad changing appointments so much! Should I just keep going even through the flares, or will it make the flares worse?

Your PT should be helping you manage it. I would usually go in and they would decide if I was too flared to do anything. And, that would be so flared that I was swollen and unable to do any exercises. On the rougher days, they would try alternative exercises, less repeats, etc., more massage, ultrasound, ice. Also, make sure you have at least a day of recovery between sessions. PT breaks down your muscles and you need a day to recover.

If it is a constant struggle, then the PT should call and notify your doctor. You might also call your doctor. You may need something extra for inflammation through the initial stages of PT.

My PT stopped therapy until I get stronger pain meds or my pain is more controlled.  I don't think it does us any good if it causes more pain.  My last session I was doing movements of like 6 inches max.  How embarressing I am doing PT for a combo knee injury and RA. The therapist says to
always come. If she thinks that things look too inflammed we do
ultrasound or e-stim.

I am going during flares and they always modify what they are doing (communication, communication, communication). Going anyway forces me to remain somewhat active during a flare as opposed to completely stopping like I was doing before.
