I got the crude thats gong around | Arthritis Information

The cold finally won!  I had been fighting it since about last Wednesday.  It hit me Sunday.  The whole stuffed up, can't breath, chest congestion, coughing, sneezy, more achy than usual...the whole nine yards.

I just started mtx three weeks ago and I'm also on humira, placquenil and steroids.  I'm relatively new to all this so I called the rheumys office and asked them what the protocol was.  The woman acted like I was speaking a foreign language and couldn't figure out why I was calling??!!

I explained that I was on all these drugs and didn't know if I needed to stop them or get an antibiotic as a prevention or just what.  The nurse said as long as it doesn't turn into a respiratory infection just to let it run its course and continue all my meds.

I don't think its an upper respiratory infection but how do I know for sure?  Does this sound right to you guys?

The best way to tell if it is an upper respiratory infection is head over to your pcp.  For me, if take a cold medicine and it has no effect on my symptoms, I go to the doc.  I have found for me, if cold meds don't work then it is something else.  When you blow your nose is it clear or discolored?  Is your cough productive or non productive?  Those are couple of other ways to tell too.  Respiratory infections can happen with humira.

Hope you feel better soon! The cold medication does seem to help and so far the crude thats coming out is clear.  I am coughing up a little bit but not gobes.  I think people like us should be immune from this sort of crap as we already have enough to deal with! But all the colds just spice things up a bit! How boring would it
be if we only had joint pain, swelling, and fatigue to deal with?
