allergic to humira | Arthritis Information

 

My doc's nurse finally called me back (a day later) and I told her about running a fever and itching rash on my face. She said it sounds like I am allergic to Humira. She said not to take it anymore and to see the doc. My next appt is Dec. 7th. and to take benedryl. What's left to take? If I can't take humira, will I be able to take enbrel? Isn't made of the same stuff? I am really upset because I thought the humira would really work for me as I have seen it work for a lot of people on this forum.

This is the 3rd medication I have tried that I am allergic to.  MAJOR BUMMED OUT

I was diagnosed with RA in Sept 05. I started with plaqenil (sp) and took it for months and it didn't work. Then on to sulfasalzine and was allergic. Then on to methotrexate.....allergic. Then humira....allergic. I take cymbalta, relafen and vicodin. I am just ticked off I have to wait until Dec 7th for next appt with doc. I'm trying to be patient!!!

I had severe migraines with Enbrel, Humira caused bad hives and didnt work, my RD was afraid that I would have a reaction to Remicade, but I just got my 3rd infusion and havent seemed to have any real side effects. I did have some hives after the second infusion so with the third one they gave me a IV push of solumedrol and that seemed to take care of that. They are all make a little differently so you may not be allergic to the others. Keep trying girl!

I'm not giving up!! If at first you don't succeed try try again!!

I am on enbrel... this will be my fourth week.  I had numbness in my lips last week and dr. told me to take benedryl 30 minutes before my shot... But I am still nervous because I actually had the reaction the day after... I am really nervous about it.  I am taking the shot tonight because if it (benedryl) makes me sleepy... I can crash.  I am hoping that I am not allergic to this.  I can't take methotrexate and I am on avara and it helps and my hair did fall at first but now it is great.  It is tricky isn't it and you fell like such a gueini pig as well.  I hope you have some answers soon.
