Low back pain. | Arthritis Information

I took my fourth Enbrel shot on Friday in my right thigh and woke up Sat am with excruitiating low back pain which is worse when I put weight on my right foot.  I took Benedryl before the shot to help alleviate an allergic reaction as last week I had numbness around my lips after and a red rash around site.  I couldn't do much of anything yesterday and today it is still there. I didn't have a local reaction on legs at all though and rest of me is fine joint wise just the back pain. Called dr. and they suggested keep up the Ibupruten and if it gets that bad to come in for xray, then MRI... Could this be from the Ebrel? RA? It seems like it is a little less today then yesterday so I am waiting it out.  I was fine Friday all day before I took the shot.  I am also on the Avara every other day.   Now I probably will not be able to go to my dance classes this week:(  Has this happened to anyone here?  This hurts terribly.

Enbrel shouldn't give you that reaction.  I have osteo in my low back and am always in alot of pain from that.  The ibuprofen should help with the swelling.  Other than that, ice helps with my lower back pain.  Good luck!

I have bad back problems due to RA and some disk problems. I wouldn't think the Embrel would have caused it though. Do you remember doing anything the day before that might have caused you back problems? Sometimes you can twist it wrong and it won't bother you until the next day. Other times you can twist it wrong and BAM; you'll be flat on your back for days.

You won't hear many people contribute back problems to RA. It took me years, tons of x-rays, a spine specialist and an MRI before they'd call my problems RA related.

The spine specialist told me that it can take years for RA to effect the Spine; but I'm living proof that it does. I tired to dispute it myself....and he laughed at me and promised me it was indeed related to RA.

I hope you can get to the bottom of your mystery soon. Feel better...a bad back is horrible!
