Oh shoot, My ankles swole up and my right elbow too but then they went down again and seemed to be getting better.
I was suppose to report in via phone call to the Doc this week and he uped my meds. I wont be seeing him till the first of January.

I was at 3 mg pred now back up to 5.
7.5 on the MTX now up to 10 mg. Scarey stuff.
I told him it didnt hurt that much.

I have 2 questions if someone could please answer.

Does this mean th enbrel is not working?
If anyone is on mTX can you tell me how much?

Thanks

BarbaraNot necessarily. You could just be flaring especially since the season is getting colder. I wouldn't worry yet.20mg of mtx is usually where they want to take you. I think the enbrel is still working - just a bit of roller coaster stuff. Some highs, some lows, some twists and turns. Exciting life we lead!20MG of MTX should be more exciting than I would like!

I didnt realize that the cold weather would effect me this way. I more or less thought it would be the wet weather. I was hit with this in April.

However it did rain and it was really cold last week.
I hear for Thanksgiving we are going to have 60 degree weather here in the Chicago area.

Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday.
I am cooking as I always love to. Not too many guests this year but I would do the cooking thing if I were by myself.

I am on 20mg of MTX a week and at my doc appt. today she said that if I am still swollen in 2 months we will add Remicade.

I am good about taking everything but do put a pain med in my pocket and forget to take it then wonder why it is not helping!  I have a small bowl that I fill every evening for the next day and I leave where I sit in the mornings while my legs get use to moving.

I am on 15mg mtx injectable and 15 mg pred.  Doc just upped everything today since my flare is not getting any better.  I am om humira which normally works well for me in conjunction with mtx.  I had to be off my meds for a bit since I got very sick.  I have a feeling that my flare will subside once the humira kicks in again.  Thursday will be my 2nd shot since being sick and I just need to give it time to work.

I am on 20mg of MTX by injection but the dr. does not want to give me predisone unless I am having a major flare (yeah.). She discussed the possibility of going up to 25mg of MTX and then adding Remicade to the mix. I have found that if I remember to take my folic acid every day and drink lots and lots of fluid the day before, the day of and the day after my injection I make it pretty well. The dr. recommended the fluids because it helps to keep my system flushed. I have been on 20 mg for 3 wks now and so far so good. Hope you get to feeling better in time for Thanksgiving!

It sounds like I am on the lowest dose of MTX. So, what the doc is doing is just the normal next step. Oh I wish there was just a little magic pill.

Having RA can be painful and complicated.
Thanks for all of your input.

BarbaraI had my first shot today of mtx 0.3 what ever that is. I don't know why but I have been coughing sense I had it a few hours ago. I never gave myself a shot before but it didn't go so bad I guess I feel a little sick
But I am sure it will be okay I hope. It can't be any worse then going threw what I did yesterday. They had to remove fluid off my right knee and gave me a cordisone shot after that in both kees. I do feel a little better today then I felt in days. At least I can walk now. Thank god for that.

I live in the Chicago Area too!!!!!

YAY!  We grew up in the west burbs of Chicago and now live right by Milwaukee!  We are about 2 miles from Lake Michigan.  We are in for some really great weather. I am going to enjoy it and may sit out in the sun.Ha Ha
Then it will be over so, savor the moments of beatuful weather. Now we can compare our flares as we have the same weather. Rain, cold, rain, cold, rain, cold oops warm, then back to rain, cold.

Angel,So far I am not getting shots. But who knows where this is going. I think the shots are good for bypassing the stomach and then you dont have to worry about stomach problems. I hope you feel better. Sounds like you have been in a lot of pain.

Barb

Your body also absorbs more of the med on the shots too.
