My  rheumatologist is putting me on the injection  rather than pills  which I have been taking for  about 2 years.    Is the injection much better than the pills and can  anyone tell me what the side effects  are?   Many thanks
Anna

PS  Also, I need to change my signature for this board... can anyone tell me how to do it?

Anna,

I don't have a clue about how to change your signature but there are a lot of people here who can help you with that. For me personally, switching from the MTX pills to the shots was a wonderful thing. On the pills I was sick for about two days. Everything I ate either came up or went straight through. With the shots I don't have these troubles any longer. I do still have a day where I am sluggish but even that is better now (maybe it is all in my head). I take my injection on Sun. night and can usually count on Tues. being a bad day. Other than the stomach issues, the side-effects for the pills and the shots are about the same, you will still need to have blood work to check your liver, etc. The shot itself is not bad at all, the needle is very small. I usually put ice on the spot I am going to inject and leave it there for a few minutes and I don't feel the needle at all that way. Everyone is different and responds differently but I don't ever want to have to go back to the pills because the shots are so much better for me. Good luck!

I am on the shots and I like it much better than the pills.  So far I have avoided the stomach upset that I experienced with taking the pills.

Side effects vary by person.  I have found that I am very tired the next day.

You can change your signature in settings.

thanks for  your replies.   it sounds really postive - thank goodness!    the injection is supposed to be more powerful than the pills so hopefully i willl get this thing under some control.
