Hi all,

Well I have leaky gut syndrome - which had cause my RA, just wondering if others have been in this situation, and if the RA went away after the gut healed ??

What is leaky gut syndrome?

Where your gut lining is damaged, letting toxins in your blood stream and into your body, hence setting off your immune system into a spin and causing RA, Lupus etc.

Its a hard thing to heal apparently! I am on the most boring diet imaginable!

How do they know your Ra was caused by your leaky gut ?Leaky Gut syndrome is a diagnosis made by Herbologists or Natural Life Style Doctors. It is NOT a cause of RA and has no basis whatesoever to the disease. The only thing the Naturopath will help you with in this regard is removing money from your wallet...leaving you poorer and still suffering from RA.

There is no medical practitioner who believes in this syndrome.

The 7 stages of the 'inflamed’ gut.

1 . When the gut is inflamed, it does not absorb nutrients and foods properly and so fatigue and bloating can occur.
2. As mentioned previously, when large food particles are absorbed there is the creation of food allergies and new symptoms.
3. When the gut is inflamed the carrier proteins are damaged so nutrient deficiencies can occur.
4. Likewise when the detoxification pathways that line the gut are compromised, chemical sensitivity can arise. Furthermore the leakage of toxins overburdens the liver so that the body is less able to handle everyday chemicals.

Cheese, I really must say, it is posts like yours that keep me from this site. For your information, I have just had a test for leaky gut on the National health service in the UK having been referred by a 'medical' doctor. Whilst I understand that we are all very wary of treatments and natural health 'specialists' I think it is disgusting to take such an ignorant and ill informed view when clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. I am so sick of this site, unless you want to take your enbrel and never try to help yourself you seem to be shot down in flames. Well, I for one will fight this disease well armed with information from as many different sources as I can. Oh and by the way in case we had forgotten, the medical profession don't know what causes RA and they sure as hell don't know how to cure it, so I guess they don't know much more than me or any other 'natural' docs out there eh, so if they don't know what causes it then they can't rule out leaky gut! Further, I personally believe that we will never find out what causes RA because I believe that there are many things which cause it in different people, I believe that RA in itself is not a disease but rather a symptom for which there are many underlying causes. I don't think we should be shot down in flames on this site for daring to try and find out what caused ours, I believe if one person can go into long term remission then it is a goal that I wish to pursue myself.
