Arthritis Information -RA & hot tubs

Does anyone know anything about hot tubs and RA?  I am in the process of purchasing one and have heard that they may be tax deductible or you can get help with insurance.  Does anyone know anything about this.

Yes, your spa dealer probably knows more about it than anyone. You'll need a 'script from your rheumatologist for water therapy. I have no idea if your insur will pony up.

From Arthritis.org, "Exercise and Arthritis":  "If your doctor or other health professional advises you to follow a regular program of water exercises, part or all of the purchase price may qualify for income tax deduction as a medical expense. Be sure to get information on specific tax rules from your lawyer or accountant before installing a pool or spa."

I purchased a cal spa hot tub last year.  My Rheumy wrote a prescription for it, and although my insurance would not cover it, I was able to deduct it as a medical expense on my tax return.

It really has been a blessing!

just came back from vacation down in islands,,,,highly recommend use of hot tubs,,,,,,got me through some bad days.....good luck
