Gelling | Arthritis Information

I just want to know if anyone else has the same problem I do.

I have more problems with stiffness (gelling) after I am active such as walking for more than a mile.  After I sit down and have to get back up, it is so much worse than if I were a couch potato.  Is it just me or does anyone else react this way?  I know we all have some normal gelling but I'm talking about excessive stiffness and pain after moderate activity.  It's very discouraging and makes me doubt my ability to walk the marathon but I haven't given up yet especially since I just started.

Hello Cristene -

I have the same problem. I usually hurt and am really stiff after I come home from grocery shopping or doing more then I should.

I would not give up on walking a marathon, if that was my only problem. See when I stand or walk to much my knees become swelled and hurting and my toes begin to ache too.

So do not give up if you really think you can do the marathon.

Dont' give up! When I was diagnosed with JRA at age 11, they told me I would have to give up dancing. I was in ballet, tap and on a dance team. When I was flaring badly, I did have to give it up. But as soon as I was doing better, I got back into dance. I ended up going into remission for years. I'm not saying it was because of dancing, but I think staying active is VERY important.

Listen to your body and rest when your tired...but don't give up your goal. I know you can do it.

Yea cristene dont give up! Im so looking forward to hearing about how well you do in that marathon. Just do your best!  i know yesterday (actually since sat.) i've been going and doing more.  and when i sit down, it is torture getting back up and hobbling.  barely able to move.  it is funny to watch i've been told.

work at a desk all day.  I have to get up and walk every hour or else my legs start killing me.   I personally am in awe of you parcicipating in this marathon.  When I have a good day and do  a whirlwind cleaning spree and work in the yard, I pay for it the next day.  I've learned to try not to overdo but when I am feeling better there is so much to do!  I get carried away!
