The first time I started having this trouble a couple years ago; my doctor increased my MTX dose. That took care of it. This time...about two years after the first episode we've doubled my Humira dosage and once again it's gone. Thank goodness!! That stuff scares me.

Before the Humira increase I found a cold pack brought a good bit of relief. I keep the cold packs that come in my Humira delivery and just keep them in the fridg...not the freezer; I can't stant that much cold.

Is costochondritis your only dignosis? Or do you have some sort of inflammatory Arthritis? If so what medications do you take for that.

Welcome to the group Tommy Girl...and GrannyJan too!! We're glad you're here.

Welcome Tommy Girl,

I have had costochrondritis several times in the past. Methrotrexate relieved the inflammation for me. This was in the days before Enbrel etc. Hopefully you will get put on a medication that will relieve the inflammation. Its a scarey thing to have. Good luck.

~tommy girl from PhilippinesHi Deb

I really sympathise with you. I'm also 36 years old and was diagnosed with this extremely painful condition in November 09. I'd never even heard of it until I got it! what seemed like weeks of agonizing pain, pacing up and down in tears  and taking prescribed painkillers which didn't work, my doctor finally prescribed me tramadol and Ibuprofen, these take the edge off the pain but every day is still a struggle and after weeks off work I have just gone back this week. I am finding it hard and constantly clock watch, waiting to take my next dose of tablets, as I can really tell when they are wearing off.
Good luck with the bone scan.
