RA and Hormones | Arthritis Information

Does anyone else have hormone problems and R.A. I seem to be going through early menopause due to R.A.. and i have permanent P.M.S. Maybe its the Humira causing the hormone probs. I really need to speak to the Dr about it. My husband and kids will be so thankful if i get the Hormones sorted. The R.A. they can handle the Big H is not so forgiving.

Pin,

I honestly believe there is a connection between RA and hormones.  I had horrific *put me in the ER* menstrual cycles.  I finally was able to get hysterectomy in July, the best thing I've ever done!!  The doc left the ovaries, and I can say that the PMS is not anything anymore.  My RA is still going strong, but not as bad.  I'm not sure of the correlation, but my RD said that he has seen many women improve once they have thier hormones under control.

It also could be the meds.  They can mess with ya.... talk with your RD and see what they say....

I went through menopause at 32. They aren't certain wheather it's the RA or the MTX I've been on for years; but there's no doubt about it.

I'm been on HRT for over two years now.

My ra started after miscarriages and a year of hormonal fertility treatments!  I definitely think there is a link!I've been going through menopause for a few years now, actually I haven't had a period in over a year . I'm just turning 52 which seems a little young to me, considering I was trying to have another baby 6 or 7 years ago. Anyway....my hot flashes have been bad since I got on RA meds. I have a history of breast cancer in my family so I can't take anything for it. My dr. says even herbal supplements might put me at higher risk. Hot flashes are the PITS!! miles2go - I also cannot use any hormonal replacement prescription or supplements but did find that soy helped a lot and since soy is not a hormone the doc said that the breast cancer risk is not there.  I was losing my mind dealing with menopause with the RA and Fibro and now I hardly ever have a hot flash.

That is an interesting point about hormonal fertility treatments as I used Pergonal for many fertility procedures, none of them worked.  I gave up and started nursing school then low and behold had my only child, then needed a hysterectomy and got these diseases.

Not sure if this is early but I'm 49 and the test showed that I am 75% done with menopause.

I have tried to get off my hormone replacement therapy for years but find when I try, the RA really flares. There is definitely a connection between RA and hormones. Even my gynecologist thinks I should stay on the replacement therapy.
