Mornings suck for me.  I have never taken oxycotin.  I was scared but I took it about 30 minutes ago.  No relief.  The percocet would kick in right away.  Oxycotin users - please tell me more about this pain med.

Morning Roxy - the times I have had to resort to the Oxy it took about 30 minutes or so for me to feel the difference and then just knocked me for a loop. Thanks Katie.  WAITING WAITING WAITINGLoL I know hun. Always waiting. It sucks!!!!! Hang in there. It's 12:10 here...I'll be at work at 1, and back on here....I expect to hear from you as to how you're feeling! LOL

Roxy - It is a 12 hour extended release pain med that I don't like cause if in 6 hours things get really bad I couldn't take anything more.  It won't really kick in hard like the other pain meds do.

Take care,

Roxy, I just looked it up to be sure, and Percocet and oxycontin are the same drug.

Percocet is oxycodone and acetyminophen. and Oxycontin is  oxycodone ER, for people who need pain relief for a longer period of time than plain oxycodone.

However, it is quite possible that one would work better for you than another. Sometimes, it just depends on the person. We are all different. Depending on the dose and the doctor, they sometimes prescribe 1-2 every so-many hours, as needed.

Hope this helped.

Sure hope you can get control of your pain soon. You are in my prayers.

Gentle Hugs,

Nini

Any update Roxy????     I hope its kicked in by now!  As a side note, I have vicodins and percocet and the percocet is better if say, I have to go to the grocery store or do something around the house but it tends to make me queesy when the vicodin doesn't!I think I kind of feel it but I still hurt.  I am waiting.  Soon I hope.  I didn't know percocet and oxycotin were the same.  Thanks Nini.  It says to take twice a day but it doesn't say how many hours apart.  What do you think?  She said take percocet for breakthrough pain.  I feel like such a drug addict [QUOTE=roxy]I think I kind of feel it but I still hurt.  I am waiting.  Soon I hope.  I didn't know percocet and oxycotin were the same.  Thanks Nini.  It says to take twice a day but it doesn't say how many hours apart.  What do you think?  She said take percocet for breakthrough pain.  I feel like such a drug addict
You are NOT a drug addict!!! (although I feel like that some days too)

I don't know about dosing....I've never taken percocet or oxycotin.....maybe call a pharmacist?? (doesn't have to be the one you fill your scripts at) I do that when I'm in doubt. Faster than waiting for a nurse to call back. *hugs*
Thanks Midge.  Nini, will you send me the link to that website.  When I google it, all it tooks about is addiction

I'm allergic to percodan, so I can't take any of those. But I've been on pain control for over 4 years.

Currently, I take Methadone 4 times a day. And I can take Dilaudid 3 times a day as needed for breakthru pain. I also have a muscle relaxant 3 times a day as needed. I seldom take the Dilaudid or muscle relaxant as often as I can, because all I would do is sleep.

But when I can't get a handle on the pain at all, I will take whatever my pain specialist allows.

Good luck, Sweetie! Sure hope it helps soon.

Gentle Hugs,

Nini

Which onen says take twice a day? The oxycotin? Hmmmm I'm not sure about that. But I bet if it's a 12 hour release, they mean one every 12 hours. :( Sorry babe. If your doc said you can take the percs for "breakthrough" pain, I kind of wonder if you should take one or not, if it's not like a sudden out of nowhere kinda of pain. If it's just a steady lul, I'm afraid of it making you sick to your tummy and woosy. I like Midge's idea, call a pharmacy! They always know the answers lol

Most large pharmacies have a drug information page. For example, I just looked up Percodan on www.Walgreens.com , and when you get on go to Drug Information and Prices. You can get all kinds of information on these pharmacy sites.

I look up anything new that I'm given, and have for a long time. I just want to know everything I can about what is being prescribed for me, as I take quite a few different meds. I have 4 specialists that I see on a regular basis, so I keep a list of meds in my computer with dosage and how often I take it. I take this list to every doctor. I can change it easily when my meds are changed. The docs and nurses really like it.

Anyway, good luck. I would start with the Walgreens site, as it is just easier to get onto.

Hope you are feeling better. Did you ever say what your main pain med is?

Big Gentle Hugs,

Nini

OK  I called the pharmacy.  He said the oxycotin takes up to two hours to work and I should take a percocet with it in the morning.  So now I feel really buzzed but it does not make me want to clean house.  It makes me want to sit here and listen to jazz standards on the cable and check out Pam's really cool website www.etsy.com.

Now I have to quit worrying.  My sis in law left us some money, I tried not to take it but she would not let me give it back.  Anyway, Kelsey wanted to go for coffee this morning and I said sure.  She has gone several times before but always with the cell phone.  Now I realized she has not taken her morning meds and does not have the cell phone.  I just have to have faith.  She has done it before and she usually stays quite awhile people watching.  I wish she would come home.  I miss her.

So I am just playing right now.  No pain but sure as heck don't want to clean.  At least I am being entertained

YOU SAID NO PAIN!!!! *throws confetti* You can't lose there! LoL

At least you're getting some relief. Enjoy it...don't clean. It's just not worth it right now. LoL Kelsey will make it back, she has you to come home to :) That's a motivator if I ever saw one.
