Ok you know how ya'll have been talking about swollen glands. Well, would Tonsillitis be considered a swollen gland?
I remember when I was a kid I would get tonsillitis all the time, but they never talked about taking out my tonsills. I still have them. I never get tonsillitis now, have not since I was in my teens.
Do you think it was just from RA? Because there was some years that I guess I was in remission, I had no problems with RA when I was in my teens, until like I was 16 then it slowly crept back.
I had tonsilitis ALL THE TIME when I was a kid....I got my tonsils taken out when I was in 11th grade. I didn't get RA until I was 29 so I don't think mine was due to RA. It will be interesting to see what other people have to say though! At 700 yrs old ( 45 ) I still have my tonsils but was dx'd with RA at 23 so for me I would say no relationship. santaruss
Well, I was just wondering if it did have any relation to RA, since it is a gland (I think..lol).
The lymph glands in your neck I think is what they are talking about. Mine swell up during a flare and I feel sick and usually run a low grade fever. Then comes the pain and chronic fatigue.Glands swell up as a "response" to the state of your immune system i.e. during infection or RA flare up. Tonsils actually get infected with a virus or bacteria during tonsilitis. You may get enlarged glands when you get tonsilitis but as far as I am aware your tonsils don't swell in response to anything.Ok nice to know nikihh.
I was just wondering, I do not really think I had tonsillitis, but just the glands swelled. I hardly went to the doctor for tonsillitis, my mom would just take my temp and look down my throat...lol. So, we just always figured it was tonsillitis.
