Biologic Meds and infusions | Arthritis Information

My Rheumy is switching me over to the Biologic meds - as the MTX  on it's own isn't doing the job. First she wants to see if I qualify to take Rituxan and if they deny me, then she'll start trying one of the others. I was wondering what it's like to go through the process of the infustions. I'd like to hear about your experiences - good and bad.  Thank you in advance for any advice.

You might try posting this under Rheumatoid Arthritis. More people will see it and you'll bet more responses.

I did the Remicade infusions and was happy with them. Then my insurance changed and put me on Enbrel which didn't work for me. The infusions (for Remicade) are not bad. You go sit in the doctor's office with several other patients for a couple of hours with nurses monitoring. I brought a book to read.

Deanna thanks for the response  - good idea about posting under the RA section. Did you get sick from the Remicade? Side effects?

K

No, just really tired the day of. Others have reactions. They usually give you Benadryl the first 3 infusions in case of an allergic reaction although some people will get them later on.

Actually, the day after I got my first one, everyone said I looked much better.

I'd get awfully tired  in the two weeks before.
