Whew. I can barely stay awake today! | Arthritis Information

I'm not sure if it is the start of a flare because of knocking off the Enbrel or tiredness from the low red and white counts.  But, in any case, I could fall right asleep at my desk.  If those pesky kids didn't need me, I would go to bed

Hi Lorin,

6Xmum.....Been where you are all week!

I've been there so many times!! Hope things settle down for you soon.

Good job the snooze on the alarm is automatic or i woulda been late to pick little man up, i am soooo tired, nice to know you're not alone though eh?

Thanks, all.  Today was actually a bit worse, so I have concluded that it is the start of a flare.  I went to see my DH's school and could do a short flight of stairs or 50 feet of flat ground without breathing heavily and stopping.  In fact, typing this message has required two breaks.  Hopefully, back on the Enbrel soon!

I appreciate knowing I've got company (just call me Misery, eh?)

Lorin
i am checking into the drug Provigil for fatigue.  I have read about it is several arthritis magazines.  cHECK THE OTHER TOPIC I HAVE POSTED ON PROVIGIL AND CHECK WEBSITE LINK.  I FEEL IT MERITS FURTHER INVESTIGATION.  IF I CAN'T IMPROVE SOON, MY CAREER IS OVER.  I'M DESPERATE!!

Hi!  I found this website when looking for information on the drug Provigil.  I had EXTREME fatigue and mild/moderate RA (which I haven't reached a consistantly high enough number on the RA test, but my doctor is 99.9% sure I have RA).  Nothing has seemed to help the fatigue which is 10 times worse since I became pregnant last year and has increased steadily since the baby was born in September.  I have complained over and over for several years about the fatigue to my RA doctor, and just received the answer of that's the worst part of RA and to exercise.  I'd love to exercise if I didn't pass out nearly everytime I get to sit down after taking care of the two girls and the house!  I have a wonderfully understanding primary care doctor who listened patiently this last time as the RA doctor wanted to put me on methotrixate (?).  The main compliant is the fatigue, I can deal with the joint pain and this is what I discussed with the PC doctor.  He thought for a moment, went out and came back with an order for 7 days free Provigil.  I started taking one a day in the morning with not much enthusiasm.  However, IT WAS A MIRACLE!  I was able to stay awake and do things and be happy!  I had been getting a little depressed due to feeling so drained all of the time.  I would recommend Provigil highly to anyone who has bouts of sleepliness and fatigue.  I have been on Provigil for four days now and feel like myself as I haven't since 1994.  I've read about the cost, but whatever it is, it is worth it even if I have to eat beans and cornbread everyday!  I was able to play with Rhiannon (my 5 year old) and Zoie (my 8 month old) and enjoy playing with them.  I am sooooo pleased with this drug.  I don't feel jittery or anxious; I'm just not fatigued and sleepy.  If you want more information about my experience with Provigil feel free to ask away!

Hey Ladybug; welcome to the group, we're glad you're here. I've never heard of Provigil. Thanks for bringing that information to us; there are so many here that have a terrible time with fatigue. It is often worse than the joint pain just as you say.

Is this a medication you have to take everyday to be effective? I take Methotrexate (You mentioned above) and for a day or two after if I'm really tired....just like today. I've wished only to put my head down all day long!! Wonder if this is something I could just take "as needed"? I don't have this problem all the time now.

I take Humira and MTX and I really think the Humira has increased my energy level a great deal.

Again; Welcome Lady bug. Hope to get to know you better as the days go by. We're really glad you're here.

Ladybug, thanks for the info on Provigil.  I started a message on this drug awhile back and no one sounded very familiar WITH IT!.  I am getting over a bad flare but the chronic fatigue is not any better.  I had read about it in several Arthritis magazines and was looking for someone who had tried it.  Gonna call my md TOMORROW FOR rx!!
