I started taking topamax recently to help prevent migraines. I have only been on it for 3 days. So far so good..I dont really know how well it works though. But there was one thing that I found in the incerpt that my doctor failed to mention...and I thought it was worth mentioning here for anyone who is taking or considering taking it. It can effect the effecacy of birth control pills. So, for someone like me, who is on MTX and Remicade and birth control....it is good to know that the Topamax and reduce the effectivness of the pills. Just gotta be a little bit more careful, and aware. Thought I would pass it on.Somebddy's trying to sneak another kid in the house on you. That's not very nice.Ohhh, they put me on that summer of 2005 for my migraines (they were
AWFUL back that)...and OMG....I was an idiot for the week I took it
(only 15mg too!!). Woah...it was bad. Not to mention I lost 5lbs that
week too (and I can't afford to lose 5lbs...very bad).
I was really bummed, because it's supposed to be really great for
migraine prevention. Second the birth control thing...they told me the
same thing. We were just extra careful for a month after I stopped
taking it. (although not long after we decided to try for #2 to just
get it over with....and then treat my migraines after...hah. No more
migraines, just something new!!!)
