Antibiotics for Osteoarthritis | Arthritis Information

Hi

I have recently added a new link to my OA page. Dr. Mirikin

My experience has been that antibiotics work well for a sudden onset of Osteoarthritis. This protocol does work slowly but in my case it stops the flares.

My new rhuemy has started me on tetracycline to see if it helps.  I commented that while taking an antibiotic for a UTI I felt much better.  He explained that there have been studies showing that antibiotics block the enzymes responsible for breaking down the cartilage in our joints.  The dosage I am on is the same as what is prescribed to teenagers for acne control, so it is a very low dose.

I'll let you know how it goes!
