Decided to make this a new topic instead of fattening out the 'natural herbs' one.

Felines, thanks for the suggestion. Have looked into the 'road back' site with much interest and am closely following the progress of some members here who are trying it. Raised it with my rheumy early this week and he said 'No.'  Not surprising. However, not sure if it's because he doesn't like AT theraphy or because it seems MTX and pred (and Avara until that was stopped) may have the RA pretty much under control. But with sensory neurophy in the picture it is, for the moment, quite a cloudy situation.

Katie, I live in Australia and get to watch the occasional gridiron replay. I used to cheer for the '49ers but now looking for another team to support. How 'bout them Mets? Are they a New York team? I have a step-daughter living in New York but she's not football savvy.

LMAO It's an old thing that people say, to bring up a new topic. They are a baseball team. I don't know ANYTHING about them! Haahahaha I was honestly being sarcastic. Did it work?!??! Yep, I got the sarcasm the first time you used it, very funny and timely. By a strange co-incidence have just learned there's a New York gridiron team called The Jets, so my question has been answered. With that out of the way can now get back to worrying about RA!!! Hope Friday brings success. It's a good idea to see how others are doing before you decide to start a new treatment, but I think it's also extremely valuable to do some hard research as well, which means reading different books and sites on the issue. The more informed you are, the better conversations you will have with your doctor and the more you will get out of your treatment (this applies to any course of treatment, imo).
I found a great link at roadback.org to help you discuss this with a reluctant doctor. Here is that link

Hope that helps with your next conversation.

You can also post a request on the roadback.org forum for a AP doctor in your area and they will email you if there is a doctor in your area. That is how I found mine.  He's not a rheumy but a GP. He started prescribing antibiotics about 15 years ago when a patient, in a wheelchair, saw Dr. Browne on Good Morning America. She has been in remission ever since.

Changing docs is a very difficult decision. I had been seeing my rheumy for 10 yrs and he was extremely nice and compassionate, and my visits usually lasted about an hour. But when I decided on AP, he was not in favor of it. I have found a new one through the roadback & rheumaticsupport lists, and have started the therapy. We have to be our own health advocates, as we are the ones living with our diseases.  All the best!
