I need your opinions! | Arthritis Information

I have a question for all of you.  I am considering changing Internists and I have two to choose from.  One is in the same clinic as my Rheumatologist and one is out of that network.

If you were me, would you take the one in the same clinic (because they might work well together) or do you think it is wiser to get someone outside that network.  I need to know what has worked for you.  Thanks...Susan

STAYING IN SAME NETWORK WOULD WORK BETTER AND IF LIKE MY INS., CHEAPER!  LAST YEAR I WAS ON DIFFERENT INS. AND MY RHEUMY WAS OUT OF NETWORK AND IT COST ME A FORTUNE.   HIGH DEDUCTIBLE AND DEDUCTIBLES ON TESTS AS WELL! Starling...I did ask my Rheumy and he said all the Internists in his group are good.  Ofcourse he did not pick one of them for me.  I would have to do that.  But, after hearing about each one from patients I think I have narrowed it down to one.  Actually both of the doctors I picked from 2 different groups have good reputations.  I just don't know if it is wise to use both doctors out of the same group.  Sometimes two many opinions make things more complicated.  KNow what I mean?  SusanSusanLee,
I'd go to the doc outside your rheumys practise, If you want a really independant opinion from this new Doc. Docs within the same practise will just confirm what their partners said and will even cover up for one another in the case of a mistake. I've seen that as a nurse and it also happened to me. I had to have a repeat colonoscopy (within 6 months) to have a polyp removed that the first Doc did not remove during the first colonoscopy. My red flag was out, because there was no pathology report and this doc got very defensive when I questioned him about the lack of a Path report. When I quentioned the internist, he covered for this gasterolenterologist. I only found out about it by getting and reading my medical records (because of insurance change and needing to change docs.)both my docs are in the ame practice and are pals and i love it. i think things get done quicker that way. no running around or faxing results anywhere and stuff. i perfer it :)
