Hi Roxy,

I am in the ALJ stage of SSDI and have read that you applied and though I tried I cannot find if you were successful yet.  It is a nightmare to go through the process and was wondering where you were with it.  I am 49 and hope that my age will help.

Take care and love your posts,

Hi Bonny,  I talked to the decisions dept. and they said they would rush getting my records in Oregon and set me up with a doctor's appt.  I told them, I am getting more crippled everyday, I am going to lose my house and I need the services that come with SSDI.  Mainly transportation.  He said I should know by the beginning of the year.  I am 51 and pretty much have only had active employment.  I feel confident that if one of their doctors meet me, I will get approved.  Have you met with a doctor yet?

Yes, I met with one of their docs a year ago and he was a jerk.  I have been turned down twice but one thing that is in both of our favors is our ages.  I turn 50 this year and you are over 50.  The word I hear is that they don't consider us oldies retrainable.  With these diseases they are certainly correct about me!

I too have worked for 30 years and it really makes me mad to lower my lifestyle while SS employees, not even docs, decide our futures, lol.

Bonny,  I cannot imagine being turned down.  RA and fibro has changed every facet of my life.  I will be devastated even though I know it can happen

If that happens and you have not yet retained an attorney, you really need to get one before it goes to the ALJ. Just be sure to get one that specializes in Soc Sec. Disability. You can call your local Bar Association for a list of attorneys in your area.

I hope and pray you both get good result, and SOON!

Don't Give Up Hope!

I use a company that specializes in SSDI and SSI claims started by a man who use to work for SS.  I have had them the entire time and they predicted that it would need to go to the ALJ due to being under 50 and I still have a teenage son that they must pay out to.  Their name is Allsup, Inc. and I can give a ph# if anyone wants it.  They have done everything for me as I cannot fill out SS's book length forms.

I was not surprised to be turned down but my chances are now 90% with the ALJ and my disabilities.

Good luck Roxy, I will pray for you, and keep fighting for it.
