Terrified of Mobic | Arthritis Information

I have had fairly severe  bursitis for about a year now.  I cannot take NSAIDS  because  of a  recurring nosebleed problem. On very bad days, I will take a Tylenol #3. I also have a prescription for Mobic.

I tried it a few times and it truly is a miracle drug for me--takes the pain away completely. HOWEVER, I've been reading online that Mobic increases heart attack risk by 37%.

My doctor says not to worry about this: I am a runner in good health, 45, and the prescription is for a low dosage (7.5 mg 1x per day). She says my risk of heart disease from this low amount is extremely low and that the benefits from upper body exercise I can do without pain more than offset any risk, but what I'm seeing on the Internet seems to indicate otherwise.

Has anyone taken Mobic or known someone who has? Is it very bad?

I am feeling your pain on this one - I too have a prescription that I filled but have yet to even take a pill (same dosage as yours). The other thing that worries me is the increased risk for stomach bleeding even if you take Mobic with food -

I'm on Mobic ever since they took Vioxx off the market. So Vioxx was definitely worse. I really need some kind of anti-inflammatory and to date have experienced no problems with Mobic. Only advice I can give is to compare the choices that you have. I believe Celebrex is the other option but I can't take that because I'm allergic to sulfa meds.

If you take too much Ibuprofen or Tylenol, you risk damaging your kidneys and ulcers.

All pain killers have down sides. Pick the one that you feel you can live with the best.

I took Mobic for a couple of years with absolutely no problems at all.  My insurance recently denied coverage for it because there is a generic on the market now.  I've tried the generic and found it was not comparable to Mobic.

I'm a 40 year old female in good shape.
