What do you do for serve pain in your wrist for sleeping at night. Plus I have such muscle pain in shoulders and left arm that in the morning I can not lift my arm at all. I take a muscle relaxer at night before bed with a pain pill . Thank god thee is a place were we all can vent right. There are so many people that surport you on this site. All I know is I can not turn my wrist on my left hand. It hurts like H-LL. I use ice-- heat--Showers almost everthing you can think of. And no relief. But anyway you all have a good night and hope you have a painless one.Hun, try sleeping with a wrist brace on, even a light one. As far as your shoulder goes...perhaps your mattress is either too soft, or too hard. I'm not sure beyond that....hang in there!!!!Hi Joan - I am sorry that you are finding it hard to get relief from pain.   This board is so good for venting &
just to know someone out there knows exactly what you are going through helps a lot.   I have problems with my wrists & find that splints seem to help.   I take codeine for the pain & anti-inflams sometimes as well but my stomach doesnt tolerate the anti-inflams so I usually pay a price for the pain relief. I started taking sleeping pills a few years ago. I do not like taking them as they are so addictive & I cant sleep without them now
but it is sometimes a matter of weighing everything up &
selecting the lesser of two evils.   Your shoulder & arm pain seems like it may be fibromyalgia. I try to avoid lifting anything heavy or putting any sort of strain on my arms - difficult but I think it does help. Someone posted recently about magnesium & potassium helping fibromyalgia - worth a try.
Good luck.I got a soft thumb/wrist support that is very comfy and I sleep
with it on when my wrists are bothering me. If anything, it keeps
me from rolling over on my wrists in my sleep. Are you taking
the flexeril for fibromyalgia? I had been on flexeril for a long
time, and it did make my muscles feel better, but it was losing
it's effectiveness. Many docs are trying a multi-angle approach
to fibro now. I am on Lexapro, which is supposed to help the
sleep-related fibro issues, Ultracet for pain, and periodically
muscle relaxers. I wouldn't know what to say to help you, but
good luck. If you find a solution, let me know!

Hi Angel ,

I already told you about WOBENZYM N.

Try it. Do it for you.

Hi Angel, although I use pain meds and muscle relaxers there is still pain and I got some help from a psycologist who was certified in dealing with chronic pain that really helped me.  I learned not to fight it but realize that it is a part of who I am at this time and I use other methods to deal with the break thru pain.

One of the methods is by physically doing something that I can push thru and do.  One of the things I do in terrible pain is iron.  It sounds dum and is very difficult and takes forever but an ironed blouse or shirt gives a feeling of accomplishment that my brain responds to with good feelings and that helps.  Of course when I finish I'm toast and go lay down but that good feeling stays with me for a while.

I also talk to people who have recently been released from jail or a rehab center.  I have a phone jack so I don't have to hold the phone and when someone says "you have helped me change my life" well those same good natural feelings help to overcome the pain that the meds don't touch.

Just some ideas that maybe in your situation you could put similar ones to use.

Thanks for all the infro. I will try the splints. i wear wrist bands right now. I found out my muscles hurt me very bad I. I can not lift my left arm at all I don't know what happend to it. But I sure will ask my Rhemy tuesday. It is almost feels like my arm is locked. I don't know how much longer I will be able to work I missed 8 days out of ten this past two weeks. I put all these things on that you can rub into your muscle not much works. Well I better go. I have to get up for work early. If I make it there. Thanks all

Hi Joan, foot, shoulder and right wrist pain were my first symptoms and severe, I could hardly move my right arm for many months and couldnt turn on the taps, shower, put on my bra etc.  I  thought my wrist was RSI (over use syndrome from computing) and saw a physio who gave me a wrist support.  I found wearing that helped hugely even when I was diagnosed finally with RA and before I got relief from the medication.

My rheumy gave me only 1 shot of cortisone but put me on Mobic, which really got me up and moving.  I swear by it!  I take 2 every night, about 15mg.

Ice also helped a lot, not heat, ice.  I used Voltaren emugel to rub in but not sure if that helped.

Good luck and hang in there.

Wendy
