Hi!  I saw your post on the thread about how old everyone is---just wondering if you ever got a good mix of meds going? What did you end up with? Any improvement? It's going on a year and a half of trying to get the right combination of meds for me and it just hasn't happened yet. I'm getting frustrated and discouraged and hoping next appt. my RD will have some good ideas. Currently on Enbrel, MTX, prednisone,  folic acid for my RA.Charlie,  I have not gotten the right med mix yet either.  My RA is progressing.  Just remember, I read posts that it took years to get the meds right and people went into remission.  We can't lose hope. With all of these auto-immune diseases in existance, why aren't the drug companies trying to come up with something for the immune system instead of trying to treat each and every disease?  Doesn't that make more sense?  ("shaking my head")  Geez!

probably  because  the  immune  system  still  baffles  even  the  best  researchers..

Thats  kind  of  scary  plus  they  do not  know  how  to  turn off  the  bad  parts  and  keep the good  going..

anyone  that  does  this  will become  a  instant  millionaire...

but  it  does  not look like  the  biologics  are  the  answere   yet...

Hi I had trouble with the Kelewn so i changed my name to Gramma

I have had a couple of combinations  right now 20 mgm arava and embrel  no real improvement....in much pain most of the time

Many feel the answer lies in stem-cell research, but yeah, we know how that goes.   Well I attempted to find the article but I couldn't.....

I read somewhere that the thyroid disease foundation, the diabetes foundation, and arthritis foundation had pooled money to fund some genetic research and what they came up with was amazing.

In each case they were able to pinpoint the gene that the immune disorder lay on. On top of that they discovered that most people (whether they were aware or not) had at least 2 immune disorders. Only about 10% of their study group had only one disorder.

It's a step in the right direction...
