Hi! My name is Erica. Is anyone new around here? I was here last for a short while back in December i think and the site seemed to disappear and lost touch with some people. But i'm so glad its up and running again! I started Methotrexate injections just recently and i feel no different.
How long have you been on 20mg MTX? It sometimes takes a while to notice the difference. I too was freaked out about the possible side effects of the MTX but I have been on it for several years and don't have many side effects. I take it on Friday nights and that way I don't have to work the next day because I am usually tired. I had side effects from the oral MTX that have drastically improved with the injectable. I was on Plaquenil but it affected my eyes so I had to stop taking it. I thought that it wasn't helping until I had to stop taking it. I had a major flare and had to go back on Prednisone. The eye problem has reversed itself since I've been off of the Plaquenil. Give it some time - I know it is frustrating but your RD should continue to add meds until you are in control. I now take Remicaide, MTX, Relafen & Ultracet - I do very well with that combination - I actually feel like I am in good control now. I do still have some pain - but nothing like before!
