RD Dilema | Arthritis Information

I'm trying to decide what I should with my rd situation.  Some of you remember a while back that because of insurance changes I had to quit seeing the RD that I really liked, very compassionate, great staff, very responsive and knowledgable.  I was really, really upset when I founf out.  Then I had to wait 3 mos. without infusion treatments while I was waiting for approval for a new rd.   When I finally saw her I liked her, she was very thorough and I thought it would work ok.

But dealing with her staff and the multi, crazy doctor office is just nuts. I have to schedule my own infusion treatments and have to go to the hospotal to have them..but to schedule I have to call multiple times and stay on hold for about 1/2 hour.  I have been trying to get my 2nd infusion through them scheduled for 2 weeks.  Still nothing.

Well, a couple of days ago I felt the Lord leading e to call my previous RD to see if he had worked it out to take my insurance again, and he has!  i have an appt. with him next week, then will get scheduled for an infusion.  I'm feeling a little guilty thought because the other rd was very nice, and always called me the next day after my blood tests (2 with her) to explain things.  I don't want to be doctor hoping, and don' want my current doctor to get upset if I go back to my old rd.  What do you guys think, does it seem like a wise thing to do?  As you can tell, I have a hard time making decisions like this because of guilt.

ThanksS

Not to sound harsh but...............screw the guilt. Get the doc that is going to be there when you need them, and that you feel the best about. Its not like the other one can't pick up another patient. You deserve to be treated by whomever your lil heart desires. LoL Good luck! Tara,  Go back to your old RD.  You just don't need the frustration of all the hassle to get your treatment.  I am sure the new rd will understand.  No matter what, whatever rd gets you, they have a sweetheart of a patient.  How is work treating you? Most good, understanding RDs realize that it is good to find the
doc that works for you, and won't take it personally. That is
great that you can get back into the old one!

I think you're probable doing the right thing by changing back. If you liked that doctor that much send her a little note explaining that you originally came to her because your original RD didn't accept your insurance anymore. After having so much trouble getting your infusions scheduled you decided to give them a call. Tell her thank you.....and Wish her a Merry CHristmas. No better time than now to send a card.

Good Luck! And don't feel bad. Life is difficult enough for us. When we see an opprotunity to make things easier on ourselves....we have to take it.

I agree with Lovie, and it wouldn't hurt to tell your 2nd RD that as much as you liked her as an MD, dealing with the office staff was quite a hassle. Give her concrete examples of waiting 2 wks to schedule an infusion, 30 mins on hold, etc.  Docs need to know things like that!

Typically the RD will understand due to insurance. It was nice that the other RD was good to you but very inconvenient for you to make an dappt. for your infusion. Life it tough enough with this disease, if that other DR. does not understand or the staff gets angry with you, don't sweat it. You HAVE to take care of yourself!

Agree with all the above. Enjoy going back to where you are comfortable. Thanks you guys-great ideas and feedback.  And sending a note to my in-between doc is a good idea and would help to relieve guilt...
