DOG BITE | Arthritis Information

I am typing one fingered.  Abby attacked my little dog Chico over a toy.  I was trying to get Chico out of her mouth.  I have one puncture wound almost to bone and width of finger.  Other hand I have 3 puncture wounds, not as bad,  I think my little boy is OK but taking him to vet tomorrow.

My finger is really throbbing - understandably.  Do I need to get a tetnus shot?  This is lousy timing as my first rd appt. is tomorrow in Portland, Brett and I really had it out and I will need him to drive me.  Today was not my day

I'm so sorry you had such a bad day today. Your life must settle down soon! Mentally, this turmoil is just too much to have to handle.

But besides taking your little dog to the vet, be sure to get yourself a tetnus shot, okay? You can end up with a really nasty infection.

Thinking of you,

Dog puncture wounds do need special care for both you and your pet. They tend to close over the top and infection builds underneath. You may even need antibiotics for both of you. I had a dog that got bit from by another one and it took a bit of time to get rid of that infection. So, don't skip out on doing something. First, get to the Rheumy, then to the doc, then to the vet.

And, when will Brett grow up? Don't answer that one.

I would ask your doc if you need a shot. Have you had one recently? They are supposed to be good for 10 years, but you don't want to double up on a shot too close to another one, that can cause problems as well. My mother just went over this HUGE thing with me about them, as I'm on my 10th year and need to have another one. :-D Just ask your doc first, to make sure. He'll know :)
