I have been taking Kineret for about 5-6 months now. I recently started injecting 2x a day about 3/4 weeks ago. Now I am noticing I am bloated, have gained weight and cannot lose it! This week I spent 8 hrs in the gym and ate 1500 calories a day and I'm still bloated. I desperately need to figure out if it's this drug or something else.Has anyone heard anything about bloating/ weight gain? anyone experienced it? I'm not sure about the bloating - but I know if a med is working for you and your SED rate goes down, you're appetite increases and your body's ability to absorb and use nutrients improves. Hence weight gain. I gained 20lb on Enbrel. The weight did level off after a year.I never experienced weight gain while I was on Kineret. Prednisone is the cause of mine. Just curious why are you dosing twice a day with Kineret?I'm dosing twice a day because my doctor wants to get me off the high dose of dexamethasone I'm on. I'm also on steriod infusions at 500 mg every 4 weeks and a low dose of mtx. This is the only combination I've responded to and it's finally allowed me to get off oral steroids as I have been on a high dose for a while.
I've been on Kineret for about two years, and haven't had a weight gain. (well, not from the Kineret, anyway.) Mostly I eat when I feel good. And then when I'm sad, I eat to make myself happy. But then, I could find any excuse to stuff my face...
I find it strange about the 2x daily injections. Are you double dosing? Normal is 100mg per day. Are you splitting that in two at 50mg each, or are you actually injecting 200mg every day?
I'm guessing any weight gain you're having might be from the steroids--not the Kineret.
