Hey all

Just wanted to give you an update.. I went to my Rheumie on Friday, and he went ahead and dx'd me with Psoriatric Arthrtis. He gave me a prescription for Methotrexate & folic acid and told me to continue taking the prednisone and vicodin if needed. I have severe damage to the joints in 2 of my fingers on my R-hand, my L-knee,my last 2 toes on my R-foot. MY Rheumatoid Factor was Negative, and I have severe swelling in my shoulders, hips, feet, hands, wrists and knees. I have my up and down days..but lately I have been severly depressed. I saw a psychiatrist on friday as well and she gave me Effexor to help, but she thinks that the prednisone is having an affect on my mentals. I hope everything is going to get better soon. I was so down in the doop after my appt Friday..I felt like my world was coming apart, I went to the ABC store and bought a bottle of grey goose and gurgl'd away. I was paying for it in the morning.. MY whole body was stiff I couldn't move and I was beyond swollen. I am waiting to see how much my Insurance is going to cover the Remicade treatment before I make a final decision. It seems I am aiming more towards enbrel. When will I start to feel better? I am going to get better right? I'm starting to lose hope

I am so deeply sorry for all your pain and suffering

I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you with lots of love and praying that your meds will soon begin to work for you and give you the relief you so desparately need. Try very hard to have hope and faith that things will get moving in the right direction. I look so forward to a day coming soon that I will see a post by my friend "skyymaxx" letting us know that things are getting better.

We are here for you sky, keep doing everything you need to do to get yourself feeling!

DEAR,  SO SORRY YOU ARE FEELING SO BAD AND DEPRESSED.  I WAS WHERE YOU ARE NOW THIS PAST THREE WEEKS BUT THE LAST TWO DAYS I AM FEELING SO MUCH BETTER!  STILL JUST VERY WEAK.  SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE PA AND RA BOTH.  REMEMBER THAT "GREY GOOSE" AND MTX DON'T GO TOGETHER!!!

I'm on MTX and Humira and I'm getting pretty good results.

And to answer your question "I am going to get better right"? That all depends on how you define better. I'm not up on my PA knowledge; but if it's anything like RA you can expect to live a life of ups and downs. With proper medication you'll be able to manage very well the majority of the time...but there's no cure.

Good Luck Sky.

Lovie

I have RA-with blood work neg,I too don't know much about PA.But I wouldn't say he diagnosed you with PA and not Ra-Most people here are neg,for blood work.As for are you going to get better,YES as long as you can have a positive attitude, and with all the new meds.I believe so.They don't have my meds right yet.It just takes time the get the right ones and the right mix of them.Hang in there we all have to go through a process.Sherrythanks for all of your replies! I'm going to take it one day at a time!

It's good that you have started aggressive treatment.  PA and RA are treated with the same meds.  I believe that PA tends to respond to aggressive treatment better than RA, but that's not always true.  Just don't give up!  Hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
