Has anyone had or known someone that has done a double knee replacement (same-day)?

Laura;

I don't personally have any experience with this issue; but there might be other here that have. These sub-sections on this message board don't get nearly as much attention as the RA section. Try posting your question there.

Welcome to the group...and best of luck with your surgery.

Laura;

I myself have not had both of the surgeries done on the same day but have known people who have had.  Having had Medicare pay for my procedures, I had to have my TKRs done 90 days apart.  From my experience and what I've heard from these people, if given the option, I would have had them done at the same time, mostly due to the recovery time.  After my first TKR, the recovery time was so long and drawn out because I was still compensating for the bad knee.  One sore knee, one bad knee.  Of course the recovery time of the next TKR was considerably less.  It would have been great to have been back on my feet in half the time.  Hope this was of some help.  Good luck!
