Neck pain? | Arthritis Information

Hi.  Two weeks to go until my first Rheumatologist appt and I am not waiting patiently.  I just want to KNOW what is going on...

Anyways, hands are still the same, swollen & stiff in the morning, lower back is still sore in the morning, my knees are starting to bother me more than not and my neck pain is getting worse.  Should I hold out or go to my chiropractor to see if he can help my neck?  I'm not getting any headaches, nor is the pain going down the side of my back (usual stuff chiro helps me with).  This pain is very localized and is pretty constant when I move my head (sideways or forward/backward).

Should I see the chiropractor?  Would he be able to help or would he make it worse?

Thanks for any input or advice.

I personally wouldn't go to a Chiropractor unless your RD recommends it.

All you've described; including the neck pain sounds like RA to me.

I hope the next two weeks pass quickly for you.

Good Luck,

Lovie

I would be afraid of a chiropractor.  No one really knows what sets off a flair and I would not risk it.  EEEEEEK Good luck.

here here, in fact i'd be terrified

Thanks.

Karen

I agree call the Rd first-With ice or heat ,it all depends on you. Some people say ice feels better, some say heat.good luck Sherry

And take some aleve!!!!!!

I was never a pill popper til i got RA, now its like 5 pills a day or more!

But i can walk and still work and even type away on this machine!!!!!

Karen; bless your heart "I'm not a pill popper and I hate to take drugs" You'll be in pain constantly with that attitude.

Take a few Motrin and get confortable and try ice or heat. I do both; depends on the effected area. I have these cold packs that come with my Humira every month. I keep those in the refridgerator; not the freezer and use them alot. I can't take it too cold; so these work nicely. A heating pad is nice too...but for me the cold works better.

I don't mean to offend you by my above comment...it's just that RA can be controlled; but often it's with a great deal of medication. Don't be afraid of it....it will get you back into the real world again. There's no reason to be in constant pain when there are things out there that will work.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...for me; and I can't speak for others...it's about quality of life not quantity. Who cares if I live another 50 years if I'm in constant pain. Honestly I don't want to live another 50 years if it's a misrable 50 years. I'd rather have 30 and live what resembles a "Normal" life. Again; that's my personal opinion (And as you all know; I have a lot of those!!)

Thanks for the suggestions.  I did try heat and it did feel better for about 2 hours.  Now it's coming back, so back to the couch with the heat sock.  Nothing like a heat sock in 90 degree weather!

Lovie, thank you so much for your posts.  I took no offense with your comment as I figure if I have RA, it's something I'll have to get used to.  Not only the pills, but admitting that I'll have to take it easy and not consider myself useless if I can't do 4 loads of laundy and cut the lawn (1 acre) in the same day.

Thank you for all the suggestions.  I even called my GP to ask for some more tests or something but she refuses and says to wait for the Rheumatologist appt.  Ugh... 2 weeks!  I'm not a patient patient.

It's nice to be able to talk about this.

Karen

I hope you feel better soon. Love and hugs, juliahdON'T FEEL BAD.  MR "HEATING PAD" IS MY BEST FRIEND.

My heat sock is going to be well used today.
